I don't want to over- interpret the "significance" of numbers. However, there may be a small message, especially when I believe that the "First Team" usually still want the numbers #1-11. So my thoughts for what they are worth: #1 Ingram - our first choice goalie #4 Hall - the prefered senior defender to Leistner. Interesting. #5 Not Allocated - a good sign for a new senior arrival, hopefully Sainsbury #6 Goss? A big surprise. Could he be seen to be a key player this season. Why not Scowen or Luongo? #8 Cousins? Another surprise. Another player envisaged for a key role this season? #9 Washington? Another big surprise as I expected Smith, or possibily even a new arrival. #10 Eze - he deserves it and is worthy of the R's iconic no.10 shirt! #11 Scowen? Would have prefered a winger for this number, and I admit that I am dissapointed not to see Smyth (or BOS). Also, I am surprised that Luongo has #21. Perhaps it is his choice and is a lucky number? So much for the season's "fortune telling" from the numbers!
A lot are last year's squad numbers, which have been kept...I would think no 8 has bad connotations for Luongo after getting it in the Ozzie squad and not playing a minute, so he's reverted to his old number. Do not read too much into Halls number... Stevee has said he won't play much this season, and probably won't get a game before November. Goss too is carrying an injury and is unlikely to start the season... I don't think there is much in the numbers
