Hopefully he won't be here next season as First Team coach and hopefully he returns to coaching kids. The people who do want him here need to get their heads out of their arse and look at his record whilst Temporary Manager. The facts don't lie. The most important word I have used so far is TEMPORARY. That's all Ramsey is.
Those of us that wanted Redknapp out quick sharpish were preached the same - that worked out well didn't it! I have eyes and a semi working brain - the playing staff is not up to it, he's instilled a modicum of desire, he may well deserve a chance, but he's also made some rookie mistakes that keeps the jury out. Will there be anyone available that can do a better job? I'd say there definitely is Now that CR is in situ does he deserve a shot? Depends how the Owners now want to spend
What drivel!! Better shut this forum down then, as clearly a forum where QPR fans can debate all things QPR isn't allowed!! Why are people getting so upset when Ramsey cops some criticism? He's been very poor and his record with us is terrible!!
To put things into perspective, teams that make managerial changes in the 2nd half of the season are doing so to get an improvement in results i.e. WBA, Palace, Villa & even us when we bought NW in when in the Champ. The one thing you don't expect is for results to go further down than what they are - that's certainly not a reason for someone to warrant being given the job on a permanent basis & to be honest if the job was given to someone on this forum I doubt if their results would be worse than CR's. So the fans have every reason to question the reasoning beyond being a cheap option for giving him the job on a permanent basis.
The problem is, the appointment of a manager is just part of the jigsaw. FFP and sanctions and losing our best players as a result of relegation are all highly relevant. TF and the board must think that 1. the stability of having a manager appointed when going down into the Championship will give some stability amongst the FFP chaos, and that 2. CR has the necessary skills. We can't comment on 1. because we don't know what's going on with the FFP negotiations. As to 2., it may be that until 1. is sorted, we won't get a better manager than CR. So if he is manager while we go though FFP choppy waters, I can't say that's wrong. But I'd be against a long contract and if he doesn't perform in the first third of the Championship season, we should conclude that he's a good coach but hasn't the necessary talents to be a top manager.
We have no idea what he would be like in the transfer market...if allowed!!......I cant see him being in his element there and very much out of his depth.
I think CR will join TS at Villa as their first team coach. Just hope TF makes some quick decisions so we can prepare for next season. If CR does stay I think we should have him as coach with a new manager.
I saw that on the Daily Mirror website Beth. A two year contract for somebody who has gained us 0.67 points per game. Unbelievable. The 5 memberships held in this household will be sent directly back to TF if he is clueless enough to make this decision. The "we have learnt from our mistakes" bull does not wash with me. TF should change that to, we will continue to make the same mistakes by appointing rookie losers to lead us in the future. I know it is only the Daily Mirror but if true, an awful lot of people will be angry.
His record is not good, but improved away, and I suspect it would have been still worse under Arry. Behind the results, I have seen a lot of progress both in individual performances and the collective performance as I have described on here before. So I'll be happy if the Mirror is right.
You don't say. Far from being not good, it is terrible. There is a poll of LFW. 30.9% agree with you that Ramsey should be appointed and 55.4% believe he shouldn't be appointed. Undecided is 13.7%. If that poll is a good cross section of QPR fans, would TF be stupid enough to do something at least 55.4%+ do not want? Sadly, it looks like the answer is yes and that tells you more about TF. ie he is totally clueless.
Happy with this as well. We've tried the other approach and it dident work so i think CR with his own team and coaching prowess will work in the championship next season, if thats where we end up. Its a gamble, but so would any appointment. Clement or the Brentford coach would be gambles as well and CR would give us the stability you need with relegation.
Would be happy with Chris. He knows the club, what is needed, and IF we go down he would be the man to get us hitting the ground running in the champs, which is what we would need.
I don't know that being in a majority makes it right, or that being in a minority makes him or any of us clueless. But one other thing is I don't see any point in him rushing this decision now - he'd be better off waiting till the end of the season look more at how we do, think and talk about it with people who know a lot more than me and maybe you, before making this decision. His previous decisions on the Manager have all been wrong. The advantage that I have seen argued before of giving CR a longer deal earlier to boost him and the squad in the relegation battle, are now in reality gone with our almost certain relegation.
I still don't know what this home & away fixation is all about. The overall record is all that matters. Ramsey's away record is better than Redknapp's but his home one is worse. So what? Fact is his overall record is even worse than Redknapp's which was pretty bad in itself
This is what worries me with CR. The Championship is a different animal to the Premiership and you need a specific type of team/manager to get promoted. Does CR have the knowledge/understanding of the Championship? Would players join QPR because CR is Manager? I know it doesn't always work out as Harry proved. Sometimes you get over priced players. If all goes wrong for CR, will TF fire him or wait to long? I like CR but i am not sure he is the answer for a QPR team in the championship.
Your fixation Swords! I hope whoever makes the decision is less fixated about the results than this, and looks far more carefully at the performances. With the playing hand Ramsey was given, and the same bad luck we then had with injuries and Officials' decisions, I'm far from sure any Manager would have kept us up..
Oslo, I know you try to be positive about everything and I respect you for that but lets face facts about TF and his Managerial appointments. 1. Warnock - he had a good record before he came to us and he achieved success with us. We were struggling at the time he was sacked so it is questionable about whether it was right or wrong for TF to sack him. He has since been re-appointed and sacked by Palace so again his rate of success is in doubt. 2. Hughes - He was relatively successful with City before we appointed him. He was dreadful with us and was rightly sacked even if he did keep us up the first season. Hughes did what Ramsey has failed to do ie. keep us up. 3. Redknapp - he was relegated with West Ham and Southampton but had some good success with Tottenham. Taking them from bottom of the PL to a Champions League place. Achieved his goal last season which was to get us promoted. Stayed 9 months too long with us and left on a by mutual consent basis, in other words he went before he was pushed. 4. Ramsey - has only coached kids in England and launched into the temporary coach position at QPR despite not having managed at any level previously. Has won 2 games in 13 attempts and is now being rewarded with a 2 year contract. What can you take from the above or what do I take from the above? TF has appointed Managers who were previously successful (Warnock and Hughes) and have since been successful so they are obviously not bad Manager's. Hughes and Redknapp had a degree of success with us but ultimately both were at the helm when we were relegated and both were rightly shown the door or pushed that way n Harry's case. Ramsey and Les Ferdinand are obviously best buddies and Les is obviously encouraging TF to appoint his mate despite the results being less than sufficient to keep us up. We will now have an owner who has made disastrous decisions in running the club appointing a Director of Football who has no experience in the role who in turn will have a Head Coach/Manager also with no experience in the role. At the same time, TF has ran up a debt of £200++ and god knows what penalty for FPP. The debts are shareholders loans so we are not going to be wound up like Portsmouth but if you ran a Private company in this fashion, you would soon be signing on the dole. Conclusion: if we appoint Ramsey, all 3 of the top men at our club (TF, Les and Ramsey) will have little or no experience in their role and the consequences could end up being disastrous. We need a proven successful Manager running the football side of things. Somebody young and progressive please TF, not a complete rookie.
