What I do not understand is that he was bought in 2009!! Also any punishment they get (should they happen to be found guilty) must be the same as that was dished out too West Ham. A precedent has been set. Of course this is assuming they are in fact guilty!!
I know it's purely hypothetical at the moment but if the action is intentended to PUNISH the club a points deduction is punishing the wrong people (the fans) along with those who may have been guilty and in that case a fine is more appropriate.
However if the object of the punishment would be TO DETER OTHERS it has to be a points deduction enough to take them out of an automatic promotion slot... the fines would not deter some clubs from doing this (e.g. QPR saw the fine WHU got and (allegedly) did it anyway).
I've read on here a number of fans saying it would be an unfair thing because WHU only got a fine - but talking to fans from around the country the majority I've encountered believe a fine let WHU off the hook and Sheff Unt ended up the real victims... I think that's one of the reasons a number of people would be happy to se WHU relegated this season.

FA released a statement saying Sun article was false and not from the FA. Warnock says it was made up in the Sun office and that it may have been because their is friction between Ecclestone and Rupert Murdoch cos of murdochs plans for F1 and the Sun and Sky are the ones giving the story its legs

no other team has been deducted points for it, West Ham weren't the first to be punished for it, and Sheffield United got away with a far worse, yet for some reason acceptable, breach of the same rule in respect to Steve Kabba's transfer by actually dictating the line up of Watford when they played each other due to 'contract clauses' written into his contract, they can't do anything about that because Man U (surprise surprise) started the trend with the Tim Howard transfer to Everton. And we know the FA hate to rock that particular boat.

I hope you aren't a representation of all QPR fans (seen as i've rarely heard from one before) with some of your comments.
Come back to this thread if you do get a deduction and sing that. Tool.

Couldn't they just get an ineligible player points deduction, or something?
What would that be 3/6 points?
Wouldn't that then apply to every game the ineligible player has participated in, i.e., if 10 matches then 10 x 3/6 = 30/60 points deducted?
For what it is worth, here is what I think - and this is assuming QPR are found guilty.
I am keeping this 100% unbiased and will not be welcomed by QPR fans.
A new rule was introduced following the Tevez affair with West Ham.
This is the first time since that rule was introduced that a team has charges to answer to regarding that rule.
This is pretty much a test case and I can see the punishment acting as a deterent to other clubs and would not be surprised to see a hefty points deduction, enough to even take them out of play off contention.
I accept it is not fair on the fans but this case is not about the fans, it is about the QPR team and management of it.
Swindon Town were denied promotion to the PL in the mid 90 for financial irregularities after they earned the right to promoted over the 46 games!
If Norwich were in the same position as QPR, I would be fearing the worst outcome.
Like everyone else, just need to wait and see what the actual outcome is.
