Okay, here's my plan, unless anyone has a better idea: 1) We wait 24 hours to see if anyone is willing and able (ie is able to contact the family etc). If so, we channel flowers etc through them. 2) Point 1 is predicated upon Brix's family actually wanting flowers and not wanting gifts made elsewhere. 3) If we can't manage flowers, we will set up a JustGiving page and donate something towards a charity, which may be logistically easiest anyway. (Tiger Cubs being a potentially good option here) All happy with that?
I've noticed Brix's name currently viewing his thread all day. I'm sure Deon will be checking in. Maybe a new thread to gain his attention and ask what we should do is needed? Is anyone thinking of going to the funeral? Certainly don't want to intrude, and please tell me if I'm way off course, but I would like to go on the basis that funerals are not something you're invited to, if it's open to all, you go if you want to.
On the charity thing, I know "another board" donates to the kyan Prince foundation / Charity. Just a thought? Would be good if it was something "local" and vaguely QPR related.
Good work raving. Of course I'm in too. I would also of taken up the reins on this but I'm over in the states for two weeks from Saturday. I will have a word with some of the members on here. Nice one mate.
If I can build up the courage I'm going to try to contact Patty or Deon, it just feels like such a massive intrusion though. If I do I'll let you know what they would like.
Good luck with that Roller, we all wish you well. As far as I'm aware ( and anyone can feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken ) that you are the board's go to man on this emotive task . I'm sure that out of all the posters on here, you were the closest to our illustrious leader and his family. As this board and site played a large and passionate role in Brix's later years, I'm sure his family will appreciate any interaction and positive emotion that we can collectively offer. Good luck mate.
Please contact them Roller they will appreciate it there are plenty of messages on here saying, if only I had done it, I know from experience you can not have enough well wishers at this difficult time. Count me in for the flowers and charity.
Excellent. Let's wait to hear from Roller either way (no pressure Roller) and then we'll push on with one of the two outlined options.
Having read the quite magnificent post by Brix Jnr, it would appear that the best course of action is to set up a JustGiving page to Barnardos. Anyone who doesn't know what they do, see the following link: http://www.barnardos.org.uk/ Please find a link to the just-giving page here: http://www.justgiving.com/Not-606-QPR Mods - feel free to post as a new thread if worthwhile.
