Shame isn't it, Villa lost their last 3 games of the season, conceding 11 in the process. Long may it continue. Sherwood looking a right surly bastard collecting his losers medal. Birmingham City's fans are sometimes violent and many are indisputably thick, but the Bluenoses are proper fans, unlike the Villa ones, easily outsung by a couple of thousand R's at our 3-3 draw there. Good to see ex Culture Club drummer Jon Moss having still employed as a referee.
If I were Villa, I'd cash in on Benteke - looked very average today but his recent form will have bumped up his value.
Moss was terrible...........another referee confirming the theory that the big clubs get all the decisions.
Apparently he has a buy out clause of £32m, which makes Charlie look like sensationally good value at half the price.
You do have to wonder who decides these numbers although I'll bet it was written into a contract from a year ago. As far as Charlie goes, Ramsey has said he'll try to hold onto him. It's interesting because Les has implied that we should be a developing players and then selling for a profit. I can't imagine Austin's stock will rise any further and we run the risk of losing him next season so I wonder if it's words to maximise his selling price or we'll have a season long gamble on promotion to retain him (which would fly in the face of everything that's been said by the club in the last couple of months).
Villa is a massive club.. on a par with Arsenal I would say. It is just their league positions have differed enormously recently.
Villa WERE a massive club, same as Leeds, but they're not in the same league as teams like Arsenal. They have been scraping through the relegation battle season after season since O Neill left, and the sooner they get relegated the better, as their fans believe they are so superior because of their longevity in the top division, despite winning F All since the early 80s
Charlie's in the squad for the two upcoming internationals. If he gets on the pitch (surely he will) and does well, his price will rise. if we are going to cash in, that will be the time. That said, he's a fantastic striker and one I'd love to see wearing the hoops for a long time. It's ironic that his call up has made it less likely we will be able to keep him. His target has to be getting into the squad for next summer's Euro's, and that would only happen if he has been playing in the Premier League next season...
