I do get where Oddball is coming from regarding rebuilding the brand and therefore having to simplify it. Stan Dupp's quip about the current crest being all Lions and Pillars was very good too! However, I think its not so much the crest that folk dislike as opposed to what it represents. If a good regime took us over that time instead of the Goons & then Tony, and if they built the Club from the roots up like, say, Southampton and now we were in the Prem playing really well with our own home grown team, I think people would look favourably on the current crest.
I have to say I personally love the original crest from the 50s which has historical association with the club, however, I agree fully with DT that we must simplify our rebrand and think his prototype is an excellent effort. The fact it can be any colour to match whatever 2nd and 3rd strips we produce is the key to it being ideal and, to an extent, futureproof. Look at our current crest on the 'Milanese' away shirt from last season and the 'Dennis the Menace' effort this season and it just doesn't look right, the simple 'Q' of DT's design says it all...
I just felt that simple is best ... we have to grab back our heritage of the hoops or move away from it all together ... can't see that happening or our fans liking that The hoops is our identity and I set out to design a chameleon and evolves with what ever shirt colour evolves please log in to view this image I love all the old designs but sadly we have dropped them along the way not to say we couldn't reinstate them or rework them As long as the hoops are ours . We got it right by designing two iconic shirts critical that we preserve both the badge has to work with them
I was also at a addias photo shoot today where i saw the new all black boots ... beautiful, stunning ... expect the rest to follow My company work also for nike who produce four new boots a month and they are getting worse IMO How much longer will footballers buy into these dreadful colours ... The shelf life could be coming to an end and Addias look to be the first to see that I hope it catches on
I found this interesting picture. I have no idea why someone would want to make our badge have Fulham colours for fun but it shows what the current QPR crest could possibly be changed to for the away kit. It could easily have black and red instead of black and white (although the white background could work on the away kit as it would make the badge stick out on the shirt). please log in to view this image Also, this is quite a nice reworking of one of our old ones. please log in to view this image
I asked them to consider DT's designs and also the ideas behind them. I also fell over while doing the survey. Feel completely crest fallen... Taxi!
This neatly sums up what I said: I like the current one but it doesn't always suit the background colour and they should look at Dave's one too.
ha ha… puffed up embarrassment - wonderful. if they got rid of the ridiculous curly feathery arms on it it wouldn't be too bad.
Done....and put in a big plug for TWGWTDT...even if they do not adopt his badge....perhaps talking to a fan, who loves the club, and actually knows about the difficulties and pitfalls in graphic design might be an idea.
