Simply cannot wait for him to leave the club. That look on his face after he makes a mistake irritates me. Possibly the only keeper in England's history to begin a World Cup as Number 1 and be dropped after the first match. Never understood why fans chanted 'Greeno' at him. He's always been error prone, he's cost us points this season on numerous occasions. Time for Smithies
I understand they are setting up crowd control barriers in South Africa Road for the expected mob coming after Green, Fer, Phillips, etc. Eight days into the window and only a couple of rumours about Austin. We're probably stuck with this lot. Including Mandy Traore.
What is the point of hanging onto Green, given he'll be 36 in a few days. If we get a decent offer for him, surely he's got to go and given he came on a free, decent in my books would be anything. Surely there are other clubs who could be lured in by his England squad history, as we once were...time for us to clear out and start with new fresh talent, who will develop and grow over the rest of the season ready for a promotion push next year.
Nothing would please me more than to see Green, Fer, Sandro, Traore disappear to be replaced by Bentley and a few younger players from the lower leagues. Assuming we would actually play them, of course.
Green has been a good servant to us since his arrival, but has made some errors of judgement. In all honesty, with our defence, what 'keeper wouldn't be nervous at times. I have mentioned in earlier threads that a close colleague of mine who is very well connected with Huddersfield has told me that Smithies is no Gordon Banks. I hope he is proved wrong, but as an ex professional goalkeeper himself, I have to take notice.
Green is frustrating. He can go from hero ( in Wigan semi and playing with broken finger / hand in the play off final and making good saves) to zero (Chelsea and last week!) very quickly. I hear the balance tips on to the zero side.
