Waste of a sunny afternoon so far. City playing so deep and defensively just allows QPR to play at will. Their players are so much quicker, more skilful and incisive than ours. Missing some drive from Doyle; Vaulks has been as usual totally anonymous.
Right first things first - a superb 35 minute display. QPR so dominant first half and thankfully Morison saw the reason why - City weren’t playing in the opposition half. So excellent decision to do the obvious and remove the hopeless Vaulks and bring on Davies but keep Colwill on to play no 10 role. That single decision changed the whole game as City now had more possession in the other half. Ok we got lucky with our first as Davies committed a clear foul and Marshall error but no doubting the superb winner. Should have made it 3 - what was Uche doing?? Not sure what he does with Colwill once Doyle returns though? And to conclude - If ever there was a game that showed that Vaulks does not have a future in a Cardiff City shirt this was it.
All the teams above us, bar udders and preston, have between 1 and 3 games in hand over us so dont see us getting any higher, an outside chance of a place or 2. Just need to keep building for next year now. Embed how Morison wants to play the game, exposure to the first team for another youngster or two, keep building experience and win a few more games. Make us an attractive option for prem loanees and for free agents. Safe(ish), not going much higher, but plenty work still to do.
Just saw the 30 seconds of highlights on Quest. Fair play to Davis, tenacious. Twice they showed him manhandling his marker who was 4-5 inches taller and a couple stone heavier than him. 1st for a goal, second for the Colwill free kick. A bit of a handful.
Seriously unhappy bunnies on the QPR site. A sample: - 1. We are a poor team. 2. Officials crap. 3. Marshall to blame for both goals. 4. Their strikers are poor. 5. Wrong decisions/management by Warburton. 6. Going to lose their best players cheaply if not promoted. 7. Where has the Eze money from Palace gone? 8. Some just f**king hate Cardiff. And lots more. My favourite comment was "f**k me sideways with a wheelie bin". The poor darlings. Looking forward to a double over them next season.
As an aside from the actual game, I thought I'd play it simple with my City bet. There was £30 in my account so just "invested" £20 on City winning @ 5/2 and another tenner on Doyle getting a goal @ 9/1 - both placed well before the team news broke. I wanted to have a go on Zak Davies as a scorer, but he was on offer at only 3/1, so I went for Doyle instead. I had a look at the start of the second half when we were 1-0 down. There was no cash out value on the City win (not surprising ) but noticed I'd been credited back the 10 quid for Doyle as scorer as he hadn't started and wasn't on the bench. With that, Zak came on to replace Vaulks for the last half hour. Quickly scrolled down for odds on him scoring but there's always a few minutes delay on B365 offering them for subs. Eventually it came up as 9/1 instead of the 3/1 if he'd started. ..................so I stuck the credited tenner from Doyle as a non starter on him................ please log in to view this image
