To all the QPR fans panicking that you are set to sign a player that can't even make the first team at Saints, then don't worry. Puncheon has undeniable quality and can definitely do a decent job in the Premiership as shown by his brief stint at Blackpool last season. The key to getting the best out of him however is to control his massively, over-inflated ego. Luckily Warnock has experience in this what with controlling Adel 'when will Real Madrid sign me' Taraabt so I think he would be a decent signing for you. One of the only positions that looks shaky for us is centre-back as an injury/suspension to Fonte would leave us in real trouble against any of the better Championship teams so I think Gorkks would be ideal. Win-win situation for all involved basically.
Oh and just to let you now, his attitude is currently so bad that he is being forced to train with our youth team.
He's just a bad egg, every club he's been at he has had problems from what i hear so don't be surprised if he does go to qpr that in a years time he has thrown a paddy for some reason or another, good luck with him, think you'll need it.
To be honest Most Saints don't hate Puncheon at all........His nose got put out of joint when Adkins arrived........He threw his dummy out of the pram....because Adkins preferred the young Chamberlain. There was a bit of an altercation we understand on the training pitch, (rumoured only) which lead to a heated exchange between Adkins and Puncheon......Then our chairman Cortese got involved. Puncheon has not played in our first team since......He was loaned to Millwall then later Blackpool last season. We think he is a good player has obvious potential.......he does seem to have an attitude problem. He will probably do very well for you guys but he will want to be the star..............
Puncheon is a great player on his day, sadly he is inconsistant and thinks he has a god given right to be in the first team. It all depends on how Warnock can control him!
My thoughts: If this had happened under the previous regime, we'd of all thought it was all about money. If it goes ahead now, it's down to Warnock and IWIT Welcome to the R's Jason if you're coming, and good luck Kaspars, see you when next season! #cleanslate
Personally I think Puncheon is ****. Couldn't even get into a League 1 side last season. Granted we needed bodies two weeks ago, but now surely with the purse strings loosened we can sign better quality than this guy. Good luck to Kaspars if he goes tho, done a great job for us the last few years.
He got in a Prem team last season, like I said, if this still goes ahead Warnock must really fancy him! Good enough for me.
I really don't understand why so many people say this (not just QPR fans). It's been explained numerous times why he couldn't get into our side, and it has little to do with his ability. (PS. The guy who replaced him in our team has recently gone to Arsenal for about £15 million. He he clearly wasn't bad).
You only had 1 player in your team last season? Blimey. He couldn't get in your team, and didn't stop Blackpool getting relegated. Hardly pulled up any trees elsewhere during his career in the lower leagues, why has he suddenly become good enough for us? Granted in Warnock wants him then all well and good and I'll go along with that. But we're looking at signing some real quality in that position, and I'm not sure Puncheon is anywhere near better than we already have.
I'm not saying that he's Messi. I'm saying that the fact he didn't get into our side last season means very little. He got into Millwall and Blackpool's teams, and they weren't league one sides. Just because you're a league one side, doesn't mean you're only allowed one decent player per position! First and foremost, he has an attitude problem. We didn't want that in our side - regardless of how good he is. He's a disruptive influence. Added to that, there was the emergence of Chamberlain. With Lallana untouchable on one wing, it was the other winger (ie Puncheon) who had to make way.
That's fair enough, but if he's a better player than Taarabt, Buzsaky, Smith, DJ Campbell and Hogan Ephraim who are all vying for his position currently, throw in Shaun Wright-Phillips, David Bentley and Joe Cole who we are all after then my guess is he'd be about 10th choice for us.
each and every one of those is a right winger are they? bentley is like a slow goat. he couldnt get in the team because he had a strop when a 16 year old got in the 1st team ahead of him. it has nothing to do with his ability.
Well compared to potentialy signing the the likes of Wright-Phillips and Bentley, signing Puncheon would be like getting a book for Xmas when you asked for a PS3 (And I'm a Puncheon fan, his awful attitude aside).
Do you seriously believe that these players would join QPR? Bentley maybe, but Wright-Phillips and Joe Cole - not a chance
Let's just say if he is one of our marquee signings I would be very, very disappointed and probably buy a dictionary immediately after the announcement, highlight the word 'marquee (the adjective)' and send to our new friend at air asia, addressed to the ceo.
