Yet in Rugby the ball or the player holding the ball touches the line it is out....or a try on the line or against the foot of the goal post.

In cricket the ball touching the boundary line or the player holding the ball touches the line it is a four....or a six if it is directly touching the line without first touching the playing area.

I dread to think what the rules say in other sports.......maybe we need a hawkeye system for all sports as in tennis.

For 30 minutes or so I thought here we go again it's yet another USA type game. I kept shouting at my TV that the goal they had to score in was at the other end of the pitch they weren't playing at. Then out of the blue really we scored and from then on it looked fairly easy if not exciting. All you can say about the game is job done and bring on the next. France have looked pretty good so far. Not going to even try to predict how it will go because teams that have looked good often have one bad mare of a game. We have looked OK. We might therefore suddenly blossom.

I had just finished telling my other half how much of a bunch of cheating gits all of the South/central American players were when Charleson went down in the box having been "brushed" by a boot. A short while later a Brazilain player all but screamed when he fell over. When he got nothing because he wasn't fouled he got straight up and chased after the ball. The most miraculous recovery ever since Lazerus. Why oh why do they have to spoil everything by doing what they do. It's not being clever or street wise it's feckin cheating Mr McCoist who was commentating. The general public do not want to see this sort of thing even if you think it's ok along with most of your fellow commentators or both channels.

Cartoon today on the front of The Daily Telegraph.....(06/12/22)

Cartoon shows the England Squad being taught tactics for the game against France.

The coach is saying......"If you advance up the pitch in small rubber boats the French won't try to stop you"

If it was only that easy.

It seems that players never learn anything. How many of those bookings were for dissent? A shed load from what I could see. If you see a team mate booked for mouthing off at the Ref then what you don't do is copy them. I watched some but not all of today's offerings and came to the conclusion that what I said before about Central/South American footballers being a bunch of cheating diving bar stewards is absolutely right. One in particular was a supposed tackle that wasn't even within a foot of the player who threw himself down and then complained he didn't get a free kick. Worse still the Ref did nothing. He should have at the least had a yellow. I hope Argentina get knocked out at the next opportunity because I don't want to sit through a final watching them sulk and do the same again.

I thought it was quite clever of the ref to give at least 13 yellows...without having to give one of them eventually a red.

There was a red card but it was dutch not argentinian. Question though. When do yeloow cards awarded not count and an amnesty is allowed? If it was in the semi final then Messi has two and quite a few Argentinians would have two also.

We have a Brazilian Ref and the touchlines also has Brazilians running them.....the official at the dug-outs is from the United Arab Emirates.

The Ref is Wilton Sampaio ...despite him giving a controversial penalty that he awarded to Saudi Arabia earlier in the tournament......he used the pitch side monitor to penalise a challenge by Poland's Krystian Bielik on Saudi forward Saleh Al-Shehri....despite minimal contact shown on the replay.

He was also criticised by pundits in Qatar for failing to show Matty Cash a second yellow card after booking him in the 16th minute with Poland going on to win 2-0 on their way to the knock-out stages.

There are other decisions in the past that have drawn comments regarding his refereeing.....let us hope then if he makes any mistakes tonight that they are in England's favour.
