So, as we approach the World Cup for the first time since 1958, can Wales and their players emerge from the "shadows"? Welsh fans were a little apprehensive in recent times about the amount of game time many of the Welsh squad were getting and could expect moving forwards. Several moves in the transfer window seems to have alleviated some concerns for several players but others are still looking slightly concerning. Is it time to start keeping an eye our Welsh boys to see who's playing, who's in form, who should be jettisoned from the squad and who could still do with more game time or a move? Obviously Bale and Rambo were the biggies but others such as Danny Ward can now benefit from Schmeichel's move to Nice and Ethan Ampadu appears to be in the wilderness right now.... https://fb.watch/eMXRJ5Ih9P/
You're on fire Brizzle! Excellent thread again and definitely worthwhile having a place to talk about how our boys are doing in the lead up. Given the current string of heat waves, there shouldn't be much of an issue with acclimatisation! Harry Wilson and Joe Allan both out at the moment but hopefully will be recovered in time to get a few games in prior to the WC. Also, I really love to watch a well executed Tango.
Tango was/is a Wendies fan. Big, fat, shaven headed guy who stripped to the waist every game, regardless of weather. Last seen at CCS 5 or 6 years ago signing autographs for young City fans.
Not to mention our very own Colwill and Davies... Can they get themselves fit enough to play their way into the squad? Not sure if there are any other fringe players or newbies on the horizon that could make an impact between now and then?
Glad someone got the reference (confession though, I did have to Google it myself first before using it!).
Saw big chunks of the Forest game yesterday. Brennan Johnson did pretty well and was so close to getting off the mark at Premier League level... Neco Williams had an absolute stormer of a game. Offensively very good and didn't shirk his defensive duties either, including an excellent goal line clearance. If he carries on like that Liverpool may end up thinking they sold the wrong fullback!!
Good for Wales that these guys will get regular game time at the top level. Sticking with Forrest, they're still splashing the cash. £125M and counting. Thats more or less £125M more than plug would have got to spend if he'd stayed with the swans. I hate to think what their wage bill is given they've also signed the likes of Lingard on a free. On the Wales front, Harris must be sticking his hand up for a seat on the plane. Colwill with a bit of ground to make.
David Brooks has just signed a new deal at Bournemouth. Now there's a player I would love to have at City!! Hope his recovery is going exceptionally well and we see him at Qatar with the squad.
It is correct. The news came out just after the last Wales game. Now if Bournemouth want him to get some match fitness we will gladly have him until the World Cup.
Wales women secured a win in Greece today. If they can pick up a point or more at the CCS in their last qualifier against Slovenia they clinch a World Cup play-off spot. Fingers crossed the lasses can emulate the lads
Watched a fair bit of it. Wales by far the better side and could have won it far more comfortably. Neither side looked like they'd trouble the top teams. A bit like the mens team in the euros though, once you're there, who knows.
Danny Ward currently keeping for a Leicester team propping up the PL. At least he’s playing whereas the other keeper is not for Forest As an aside it sucks that after so many years trying to qualify and suffer the agonies of Katowice, Anfield, Ninian Park, Arms Park and CCS, Wales end up in a winter World Cup in a country where fans have to go beyond the extra mile to get there. Whatever it’ll be unreal watching Wales play USA in the opener
Totally sucks that so few fans will be out there to see it after so many years of heartache. I've booked to go to Gran Canaria for 19th November for a week, so will be watching the USA and Iran games in Tiffany's Bar in Puerto Rico, a Welsh bar owned by a Cardiff City fan, Mrs Brizzle is going to love it
