I guess if you’re willing to have Giggs in your username, it’s unlikely you’re going to have a very enlightened approach towards women, but the best strategist in the sport over at least the last few years is literally a woman. Hannah Schmitz, look her up, she’s properly impressive and has played a huge part in RedBull’s record setting runs.

On to the race, one were a few centimetres made a big difference. Verstappen’s pole lap yesterday reminded me of Senna, and his defence today had many similarities with the great man too. Unfortunately whilst yesterday that meant we got to see a piece of sporting brilliance, today it meant we got some overly aggressive defending in the face of Max losing a win he felt should have been his.

I didn’t want to comment until I’d watched some highlights, which ended up being the Sky analysis from Anthony Davidson, who I thought was pretty fair. You can argue the first move was Verstappen taking an early apex, but certainly when contact came there was less than a cars width left for Norris to drive into. I don’t think of it as payback for last week’s start, but as it’s fresh in the mind, I will say that I wish they’d enforce that rule there too, before someone spins in front of the whole pack trying to pass on the grass.

The 10s seemed fair given worse moves/misjudgements were punished similarly. It feels wrong that the effect was for Verstappen to increase his championship lead, but the alternative of deciding penalties on outcomes is far worse in the long run.

Good for George to pick up the win, he drove well all weekend, once again having a small but decisive edge over his teammate. Piastri will be kicking himself somewhat, out of position following a small qualifying mistake, edging just over the track limits; his maiden GP victory was surely there if he’d started in position.

Stewards are totally to blame for that incident by not giving Max a warning the first or second time he weaved, which happened laps before. They've been letting him get away with much worse than Senna or Schumacher ever did, one of which was threatened with a very long ban and getting a DSQ which ended his WDC chance, and the other DSQ'd from the whole championship, 3 seasons after receiving a 2 race ban.

Remember verstappen basically parked his car on Hamiltons head doing the sane stuff.

If it was an era without halo Hamilton would have died.

Again we will see if he ever gets punished but it seems to me that he has got away with more than enough already.

It was so obviously deliberate, but, imo, Masi was under orders from Liberty, so nothing was done because the same winner isn't good for ratings.
And Silverstone was a joke of a decision, there's no rule about hitting apexes.

Don't get me wrong, I had zero issues with rosberg finally growing a pair and pushing Hamilton back after years of being bullied off.

Verstappen can bump wheels all he likes but to go 1,2,3 clear offenses anyone else gets a black flag

    He clearly weaved
He clearly left the track and gained an advantage
He clearly pushed another driver off.

The fact norris turn back in on verstappen and cut his tyre imo was a good thing but it didn't work out as a dnf for the brat

    Real real pity.

Norris clearly ragged it back round and destroyed his own car.

    I agree.
What appeared even worse was that Max even tried to run Lando off the track after the indecent by pushing him on the grass when his tyre deflated and Lando's took a little longer to go down.
Once again Max is not getting punished and so he will always continue to do iffy moves as he believes they are fine! He needs a decent penalty that actually affects him where it hurts - points deduction, grid penalty or race ban etc. All the time he receives no effective punishment he wont learn. I am sure his driving will end up hurting someone one day if he isn't taught how to behave.

I saw that too but I think it was just Lando trying to stay on the track by turning right as the corner turned but Max was still there as he was still trying to push Lando off the track. It was like Lando had a couple of tries at turning right but Max was still there - maybe Max's rear puncture gave him understeer <laugh><laugh>.

He didn't look punctured to me until that front wing tapped him

They need to stop giving 1 place penalties in races (5seconds usually is just that and sometimes 10 is nothing) and start dishing out grid penalties for next races.

    10 place grid penalty max.

Let's see you hit someone again.

As Max was driving back to the pits you could see his rear left rim had a big bend in it and I doubt that a front wing end plate could do that?
10 place grid penalty would be a start, maybe with a suspended race ban for if he does it again?

Gents. We have made it to this point without Max's ridiculous defending and dive bombing being punished properly. Nothing is going to change now.

This should have been addressed years ago. The sport has made a rod for it's own back on this one.

Yep, brat boy`s policy is to win at all costs and if that involves taking out your opponent then so be it.
I`m sure Lando is going to get more of this now that the McLaren is very competitive and he will know what Lewis had to put up with in 2021.

So unless the stewards do start to address this it will just continue as in 2021.

Blame the sport. If he can get away with it he's going to do keep doing it.
