For anyone that appreciates a good coffee it's worth investing in one of the machines with a timer - mines starts filtering the stuff 10 minutes before my alarm goes off so I only need to get out of bed to pour. Lavazza is my first choice as well
There's a proper coffee shop on my local High Street, an old family business that's been there for generations. Obviously they sell other stuff as well, but freshly ground coffee is their core business. When they roast the coffee in the big drum in the window, the smell is intoxicating. Unfortunately, coffee doesn't actually taste anything like that smell, however you prepare it. It's a bit like pipe tobacco-it smells great but tastes a bit rank. You're better off with a cup of PG Tips and an Embassy Regal.
Agree with Dev on this one, decent ready ground coffee is availble in supermarkets and a packet of the stuff costs less than a single trip to a high street coffee shop. As for making the stuff, it's very easy and hassle free. It's also very easy to **** it up and many people do, which explains some people's aversion to it I suppose.
