The word from the camp this week is basically “no incomings in January without outgoings first”. There’s no dough. “we need to stick together” blah blah. You can guess who’s saying it. Methven & the dud SMT will be desperate to shift anyone off the books early January to free wedge up. I can’t see there being many/any takers for anyone in our squad, even ML has lost form.
It's a pathetic decline from all that nonsense they talked in the Summer. Whose fault is it that the players we brought in have been frankly rubbish? And who is going to take the rubbish off our hands in January? Nobody in their right mind. I assume the foreign backers are giving our Spiv SMT until the Summer of 2025 to rescue the situation. Something we already know isn't going to happen. Our current squad is not going to come good. Because it isn't any good.
All this b******* about 4th highest budget, zzzz, I bet this has to take into account paying outstanding contracts on players no longer with us.
If we really do have the 4th highest budget in League One then the failure of our senior managers is even more disgraceful. But as you say, lots of that supposedly high budget may be money already wasted before we kicked a ball this season. The plain fact is - contrary to the apologist crap a few of them spout on ITTV - Charlton Athletic is appallingly badly run. It's obvious. Look at the competing Clubs in the top 8. They've got their acts together. We're a basket case.
https://www.charltonafc.com/news/holden-scott-rodwell-and-warrick-appointed-senior-roles https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-one/22-december-2022/ Zero progress gentlemen, and @Smudger603 Of course, Sams is quick to say about the number of transfer windows this mob have had, you are not telling me they did not have any input in the January '23 window. Clowns, the lot of them.
No dough because we only have lenders imo. Has always been the case for me as it's a bit obvious, no real spending from the billionaires, not a single sentence from the billionaires and all we get is manure from Charlie. He's spent the available money and now needs to sell or get rid in order to recruit. 12 million for something that's only worth a pound said it all for me Don't expect much in January
@lardiman Methven has given a long interview to the SLP. Can you post the link please - there’s a few classics in there.
Summary of the Methven interview, while Lardiman finishes his tea Team currently underperforming their KPI - 5/6 points off the target given, Squad will be “streamlined” in Jan as I posted earlier in the week ie player sales, Mysteriously - nothing on money available for signings in Jan as also predicted, SMT, manager & players frustrated with results, league position and style of football, Fans need to be patient …5 year project etc
https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/spor...e-position-transfer-window-and-style-of-play/ One decent win and the spivs emerge from the rotting woodwork...

Charlie: Why do we need a manager and a technical director both making the decisions? Scott is in a job as a favour rather than being qualified for the role. There is absolutely nothing that is technical about him. Let's not kid ourselves. While the win at Northampton was a boost, and a long time coming, we all know that we are more than capable of putting in another Bristol Rovers or Crawley performance on Boxing Day. Let's all have a guess why the squad is too big and then have another one as to why it's not good enough. What so called technical director worth his salt, creates a squad that big, yet can barely drag itself into the top 12 of the third tier of English football? Isn't Charlie basically saying here that Jones and Scott have to trim a squad that they created? Isn't that short term failure? *********** Yep, Ivor is now definitely history with Charlie
Interesting to watch a video on Twitter of Methven being asked a non patsy question by a fan outside the West Stand yesterday, and quickly scurrying away. From what I could see , the fan was perfectly polite, but clearly a CM sceptic. Good to see There will hopefully be a lot more of this. Methven can no longer hide behind his two forum ciphers, Global (ITTV) and Dubai (CL). Real fans increasingly want answers as to the mess he’s made of running …sorry …ruining the club in the last 18 months.
By all accounts, at the Bromley supporters meeting Methven was quoted(for what his word is worth) that we spend 1.2 million in the summer, this included the sale of Alfie May. If the fee of 750k was correct we have spent around 500k. Two bob a***holes.
What has Methven actually improved so far in his 18 months as CEO ? It’s a question that not only CM, but his forum pets on ITTV are unable to answer. The team / squad - nope. Worse. Worst league position in a century on his watch, Stability - nope. 3 managers hired & fired in 14 months. Scott & Rodwell demoted, but retained, Attendances - PMSL - 8,500 max at most honestly games, The match day experience- nope, unless you want a £5 flat pint at 11.30am on a match day, Ticket prices - nope - £31 on a match day is very steep given the standard of the football, The pitch - - looks like a cabbage patch, despite the Oxford United supporting whopper purveyor claiming he had spent £450,000 on it, Progress on buying the club’s assets - - complete silence, to nobody bar Mundell’s surprise. The only thing that has indisputably improved during Methven’s 18 month tenure is the quality of the porkie pies. Southall and His Highness Nimer were just two bob liars, and Sandgaard was a fantasist…it’s undeniable that Methven’s porkies are of a much higher quality, so well done to him for that
Managers, could well have caved in and sacked Jones if we'd not won the past three games, they are still on their 3rd. PS, the pork pies are of Melton Mowbray standard.
