He says he's unaware of any contact between him and Liverpool, but suddenly he's read that we've spoken to Bony and all of a sudden it's gospel.

Just because a quote from him saying we've tapped him up, doesn't mean there is any truth in it at all. therefor, you can't prove it is fact. And why? He was being more subtle in the first interview but the inference is clear. In the second interview he just says it how it is i.e You tapped him up.
