Isn't Scotland called after an Irish tribe? Seem to remember that coming up in a pub quiz I took part in.

I believe it was the boundary of a prison camp. If you stepped over that line the guards would shoot you. Hence deadline.

Next question

Who is the only player to win a Champion`s League medal, the Premiership and the FA Cup, and to be relegated from the Premiership without going on to play in the Championship?
 
Doesn't Djibril Cissé fit the bill as well. He won the medals with Liverpool, was relegated with QPR, but has left them rather than play in the Championship?
