Amazing! Would love to have seen that one
I did. We used to live a 5 minute walk from Easter Rd, and my grandparents lived in Peebles - that connection prompted me to go to the match. JB missed out on a tenth goal just before full time - it had been raining heavily and he slipped over in the mud as he was about to shoot into an empty net.

Back to you.

Any film of it? I guess not! But good for you.

My best goal fest was our 8 -0. So hoarse after it we were all speechless on the train into London from the High Street
Sadly there was no such thing back in those days in Scotland...
I was at that 8-0 match too. It was my last match before flying back to Australia on the Monday after it.
This was my best goal fest - a World Cup qualifying match in 2001 between Australia and American Samoa. Embarrassingly one-sided - a game that really should never have taken place.

Oh my goodness..were you there?

A 'local boy made good' question.

Which footballer, born in a village less than ten miles from where I live, started his career in the Highland League before eventually moving to England a few years later - where he helped his new club win the Division 1 title, the European Cup and the European Super Cup?

The late, great, John Robertson with Nottingham Forest?
Good try, but no - he was born down south. Similar age (born 4 months later) and era - am sure their paths would have crossed.

The player I'm thinking of had a younger brother who was also a footballer - started his career in the same Highland League club before moving to England. Didn't reach the same heights though - although I'm sure he played against us for his first club in England, a cup match which we won 1-0. In 1981 if my memory serves me well.
