It has more to do with the 'relationship' between the scorer and the keeper.

Yes, it's true that a locomotive hauled freight & passengers from Penydarren ironworks to the Merthyr cardiff canal in 1804 However, the locomotive wasn't named as such, just referred to as the Penydarren by association with the location. You are on the right track though. ( Ha ha. )
