Ok - this time I have a question - well ,2 in fact. In case 1 is too easy. Which club has held the F A Cup for the longest consecutive number of years? Which club in continuous existence has currently been out of the top flight for the longest number of years ? ( For the purposes of this question, I am ignoring clubs that have 'folded' and restarted e.g. Bradford Park Avenue , but not name changes e.g. The Wednesday are now Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea to Swansea City) I should also add that I researched this second question the hard way -by looking up the teams each season. So it's possible I got it wrong !
I know the answer to the first question. The second one though will require lots of thought and research.
The first is, I believe Portsmouth (held it over the war years). The second could be Dulwich Hamlet - but if you mean those that once played in the top flight and never again then probably Glossop North End.
Good shout for Portsmouth ! And typically for me, I had a different club but you are right about Glossop North End - and I never saw it coming ! I had intended to set a start date of 1918 since Arsenals dodgy entry to the top flight sort of invalidated promotion/relegation !) So , since you got it so quickly , and well done, then assume we limit it to a start date of 1918. Or, if you wish, set the next question - you will probably be doing it anyway !
Cheers Bodbo. A nice easy one - which city's streets are lit up by the largest number of gaslights Worldwide ?
All yours BB. The city still has 43,500 gas lanterns which are still in use (first erected in the 1820s). A large number of these are in the former East Berlin but there is a strong movement to keep them active because of their cultural significance (the light is also more atmospheric). East Berlin still uses a different shading to its streetlights and so, seen from above, those in the West are a garish bright yellow and those in the East are orange. Looks very strange flying over the city at night. Over to you.
