Thanks, yorkie. Which Watford legend only played once for the Hornets, and he wasn’t really a Watford player?
I wouldn’t class him as a ‘Watford legend’. The person I’m talking about every Watford fan would describe thus.
Gary Donnellan? His only competitive appearance for us was against Aldershot in one of those plastic mug competitions - although he did play in a friendly against Vancouver Whitecaps. Why he would be called a legend is beyond me though...
Correct! Pat Molloy (real name Peter) turned out once for the Hornets (then the Blues) during the war. He was a ‘guest’ player. Playing for us against Aldershot, he earned himself four pounds (a hat-piece), which he described as making him feel like a millionaire as he left the ground. My Dad went to games at the Vic during the war - I wonder if he was there for that one? Obviously, most of us know Pat Molloy more for his bucket and sponge than as a player! I say that with no hint of derision- he obviously knew what he was doing to last so many years with us, and although I don’t know how other managers would have been with him, GT wouldn’t have carried a passenger. Pat introduced weight training for the players at Watford, I read, too. Over to you, ofh.
That didn't take long. Yes three laps to a mile race. It also had a swimming and diving pool dug into the infield. Over to you.
Thanks, ofh. Watford programmes for the 1968-69 season increased in price, but the improvement in quality meant they were voted Programme of the Season. How much was the new price?
