Delius worked in the woollen trade in Bradford and my grandfather knew him quite well.

To give away one of ofh's secrets....

What 'delicacy' do the French eat with their heads covered by a napkin, and why do they cover their heads when eating it?

Is it the Ortolan Bunting and they cover their head so as to absorb the maximum odour as well as flavour.

Yes - alternative explanations as to why they cover their heads are: so that God won't see them doing it, to stop the fat squirting everywhere or it's too gross a sight to watch.... Take your pick. :)

Wonder if this is a common sight in the ofh household? <laugh> Ortolan3.jpg

    Over to you..

The Ortolan Bunting is a little bird which migrates from sweden ( or switzerland, I always mix them up ) is caught by the French, drowned in armagnac, cooked and eaten whole.
To see Clarkson eating one when the currency was still francs, see
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y4MS7mSzX8
and he is wearing the napkin on his head.

Is it Honi soit qui mal y pense, the same as on a British passport ? In which case the translation is 'Shamed be he who thinks evil/ill of it'. (I only know the translation because it came up on the Q.P.R. board !).

I am currently sitting on a man made structure - the only one of these in England. It has something in common with a swan, a lettuce and a horse. Where am I?
