I have it as the 3rd Symphony, 'Eroica', Dave, but you've the correct geezer! Apparently he was all for the revolutionary movements of the time, saw Napoleon as someone as heroic in that regard and dedicated 'Eroica' to him. The first recital was given, then Ludwig found out Napoleon had just made himself emperor. Disgusted, he supposedly tore up the front page of his work including the dedication (although this is thought to be apocryphal as what purports to be the original appears to be in a Vienna museum). I just googled has Jeremy Goss ever scored at Anfield and I says he scored the last goal in front of the terraced Kop, so who the Hell is John Garner?
