Much older. A representative of a whole class of weapons. Only used in warfare by the Austrian army against Napoleon which gave them a small advantage, particularly when it rained - unfortunately for them it obviously didn't rain often enough.
I'll give you that Yorkie. They were apparently used for hunting in the 16th Century and were used by the military at the end of the 18th. They had the advantage that reloading was much quicker, and they could also be used in the rain. Over to you.
