They are all milestones in the history of Luton ? In 601 BC a meteor hit the earth leaving a big hole. In 1543 they filled it in and grounded a leper colony there. In 1781 it was sacked by the Gordon rioters. In 1846 the first people to actually want to live there were escaping the potato famine in Ireland. And in 1930 Luton Town F.C. recorded their last win ?

    It often feels like it!

What links a former Chairman of the Conservative party and a former captain of the England cricket team?

I don't suppose it's Seb Coe? He's married to the daughter of Mike Smith and he was a Tory MP - not sure about Chairman/Deputy Chairman of the Tory Party though..

Andrew Strauss is a fund raiser for the Conservative Party, so would know party chairmen.

Amazing what you can find on google - is the answer Yorkshire?

The Honourable Stanley Jackson - Yorkshire cricketer who captained England in 1905, and was Chairman of the Conservative Party 1923-1926

Good effort, BB, but far beyond my knowledge!

2nd clue: the link is in the names rather than the people themselves.
