You've cracked it Dave. Negatives begin in this language with nek. The question is apparently a creation of the British council, measuring language learning ability. Over to you.
Cheers Cologne. Preston North End, Aston Villa, Wolves, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, W.B.A., Everton, Burnley, Derby, Notts County, Stoke. Who are they and who's missing?
Founder members of the Football League in 1889 - the pride of Peel Park, Accrington Stanley is missing.
Actually it was Accrington. Accrington Stanley was a different club (that folded and was ressurected). Sorry to be a pedant.
Which team played their last league game against Watford? What other 'last' also occurred with that game?
Was it Southport in 1978 ? In which case they were also the last team to be relegated from the football league through the re-election process - all later ones were automatic.
It was also Dennis Bond's last game for the club - a wunderkind that never quite made it at the top level and is another example of someone that moved to a "top" club too soon. I did, however, see him play probably his best game for Spurs - at home to Liverpool in a 6th round replay in 67, when Spurs won and went on to lift the Cup. I stood on the "Shelf" in the days when one could turn up at the turnstiles and pay to get in even for such a high profile game. Back to Southport and the thread, they were always tough opposition for Watford at Haig Avenue. I remember, during the promotion season of 68-69, a particularly robust encounter up there on a Monday night (a 1-1 draw), when Brian Garvey (a sort of very uncultured Prodl/Britos combined) managed to hit his own crossbar with a back pass from around 35 yards. The ball rebounded back to him outside the penalty area and he nonchalantly set up another attack.......
Cheers NZ. Ok. Which is the biggest city in the EU. without a football club in the top division of its country ?
