David Rice Atchison. ? He was vice president at the time that James Polk's term came to an end on a Sunday - Zachary Taylor did not want to be sworn in on a Sunday, for religious reasons. Atchison was technically president for a day and apparently slept through most of it.

Dresden in Stoke - pottery, ceramics.

Which reminds me of the time I was in a pub in Stoke. Some old bloke at the bar started talking to me. I was 21 and, for want of something to say, asked him if Stoke had been bombed during the war. He said, "No. The Germans flew over and thought it already had been." True story.
