Close. But I'm looking for a bit more, e.g. Who inadvertently came up with Bloother.

Blimey, I thought it was a made up name (clue). It's not my real name and it is linked to the mighty Luther Blissett.

Er.... You have a Salvation Army activist in the family who wanted you to put Booth in there ? And you then combined this with Luther and Blissett ? Just a blind guess - if you don't shoot you can't score !

Ok, I'm starting to doubt myself on this so I'm going to give the answer and move on in case I've made it up, but I'm pretty sure that when Luther was with England, the much missed Bobby Robson, famous for getting names of players wrong, used to call him Bloother. Has anyone else heard that story or have I imagined it?

Moving swiftly on, the three books by Ian Rankin featuring Inspector Rebus that share their name with Rolling Stones albums.

There are loads of SBR sayings so it could well be true, The getting names wrong that I heard was Jack Charlton when he managed Ireland could never remember players' names, the funniest being Tony Cascarino, he used to call him "The ice cream man!"

Ah, Bobby Robson...used to watch him play for West Brom when I was a boy. There used to be a position called right half then. Saw myself as more of an inside right...

If I am right my question is this.

What is the link between Watford's last friendly game and their rumoured next opponents name, Borussia?

The bird on the coat-of-arms of South Tyrol is the same as the one on the flag of Prussia (Borussia is Latin for Prussia)?

No, not my answer anyway. The question is obtuse so I will give you a little clue.

    It's all in the numbers.

South Tyrol and Dortmund have roughly the same populations - 500,000 or so. ?

Sounds like something to do with the scoreline - 8-0, but exactly what I don't know. Did Dortmund beat them by the same score?

Watforford scored eight and there are eight Borussia fooball teams in the DFB system.
    BV Borussia 09 Dortmund - Bundesliga (I)
    Borussia Vfl 1900 Mönchengladbach - Bundesliga (I)
HSV Borussia Friedenstal - 2. Bundesliga North (III)
Wuppertaler SV Borussia - Regionalliga West (V)
    Borussia Vfl Neunkirchen - Oberliga Rhienland/Pfaltz-Saar (V)
Tennis Borussia Berlin - Berlin Liga (VI)
SV Borussia 04 Fulda - Gruppenliga Fulda (VII)
    SC Borussia Lindenthal-Hohenlind - Amateur, Landesliga Mittelrhein-Staffel 1

Let's see if google can help you with this:

In 1969, to celebrate winning the 3rd Division Championship, Watford undertook a short overseas tour - playing two games in two days.

    1) Where did they go?
    2) Which teams did they play?
    3) What were the scores?
    4) Who scored the goals?

    2. A team with a name like Wolverhampton's other bit and one that could be a small valley.
    3. The first score was better than the second.
    4. Barry, Ron, Tom and Walter, and someone scored in his own goal ,doh.
