This historical event was re enacted in daylight in 1999. One of these places has something in common with Sheringham and it's not music. The annual competition is no longer held and was little known outside the area so forget that one. If you are sure you have the answer to what this event was, then carry on and set the next question because I have to go out in a few minutes.

Got it. The lifeboat was taken overland in 1899 over Porlock Hill to help a stricken vessel. The event was re-enacted 100 years later.

In The Phantom of the Opera, where had the Phantom escaped from? There are two possible answers to this.

Yes. That came from the book, but in the film version he was reputed to come from Devil's Island.

I suppose you could also say that he 'escaped' his family when he ran off with the gypsies...

    Assuming it's back to me....

If white means no knowledge, blue means reaching for knowledge and brown means refining new knowledge - what does black mean?

Delighted to hear it, BB. About 18,000 words of 'The Morning Gift' revised now...it's Mrs H's favourite!

Haha, you arent far wrong with that idea Dave.

    • White belt- the seed dormant under snow
    • Orange belt-the new growth
    • Green belt- the shoot growing
    • Brown belt- the powerful trunk of the tree
    • Red belt- the apple on the tree as knowledge develops
    • Blue belt (cho dan bo)- represents maturity, respect and honour
    • Black belt- represents mastery, dignity and serenity. It is also the end of one life cycle and the beginning of another.

Its really interesting once you get into the history and meaning of the art and the forms(patterns).

That's one interpretation - a bit more flowery than mine, and a trifle at odds...
