I was talking with one of my friends about the pubs we went into in the 70's. Anybody remember the name of the small pub in Chapel Street opposite Segals? I know it's changed it's name a few times since then but I just can't think of it's name. Proof that alcohol destroys your memory?

Back in the day, it was next to a Thorntons Chocolate Kabin (which appears to have been at 6 Chapel Street. It was next to the pub (@ no. 8?). Archway each side of those two premises (as far as I recall).

Pretty sure it was actually, that’s the only thing that seems to stick in my mind about it.
I think that was it. I thought it was a one word name. Thanks. It was opposite my bus stop. It was between the two archways. There was a car park behind it. It became Magma much later. There's something on the HDM website about it being closed down because someone was blinded in there.
The Bass House rings a bell but I can't think where that was, unless it's the same place in different reincarnation.
Mick's their cousin and he's off Fountain Rd. Micks no thug but he was and is above all them. One of the toughest men I've ever met.
Ray harvey gets mentioned on here a bit. I saw him come out of his house shouting and bawling at us working, he took one look at Mick and started sweating and apologising knowing who he was straight away.
He's still on the door at City Hall now and he's 70, fit as a fiddle too. Gym every day still.
I had a few beers with him a couple of weeks ago.
