I've been recently providing training to Olympique Lyon football club & last week I had the Director of International Relations.. it was fascinating what they've got involved in to promote their brand, I hate the word "brand" in sports but that's the way things are these days.. anyway.. Apart from the football club but they have several business units - the shop (merchandsing), 3 Brasseries, wine, TV, travel agency, coach company, community youth schemes.. Their budget has been hit this season for a number of reasons - change in French tax laws, money needed to fund a new stadium & huge expenditure by the previous regime on players (Bastos etc.) A bit like City, their current stadium, the Stade de Gerland, is owned by the City of Lyon and they pay rent, but they are contructing a new 60k seater which should be complete for the 2016 European Championships and they'll host games. My client is currently looking for a sponsor for the new stadium and hinted the annual price would be "around 8-10 million euros", he's looking at Middle East & Chinese potential sponsors..
I should think not! As a Yorkshireman you wouldn't have taken kindly to being robbed of change; and you lost your bird into the bargain!
Lol. well i am but purely to walk round and see how its faded over time. i mean there is no variety anymore. no shamrocks, no para-troopers, no dive bombers, no cake walk, no rota, no wall of death, to name but 6. but i have the traditional bob carvers Grease Feast and take a bag of brandy snap and a selection of toffees home. you aint missing much ride wise, unless of course you enjoy being ripped off.
I'm pretty sure there are still para-troopers and a few rotors, if we're talking about the same thing. You're right though, i can't be arsed with the rides either, it's all about the various food stalls on Walton street.
the para-troopers i refer to were the ones that went up on a hydraulic arm ? not seen them in years. there were also ones that were fixed at an 80 degree angle. if the roto is there it must be well hidden. but i get better value for money and enjoyment with my brandy snap and toffees. bob carvers is a tradition only.
He's my Uncle Bob. Or more accurately, he's my Dad's Uncle Bob, what does that make him, my great Uncle?
Mustn't try and do anything positive in Hull! Otherwise it might give us something to be proud of... (Of all the Millenium projects in the country, only two were successful - The Eden Project, in Cornwall, and Hull's The Deep. Q: Who else has an equivalent of The Deep? A certain logic suggests it should never have been built.....)
