Good idea Sensible but at least in the case of Crawley Town, a pocket handkerchief would suffice - £2.99 not £2,999.
£2.99 for a handkerchief notdistant? Gosh you are posh. You can get 3 packs of 6 in Primart for that.
I don't research all my posts Sensible, as is probably painfully obvious. £2.99 just matched nicely with the £3,000 odd that I believe was paid for The First Glorious Flag Of The Proletariat. Will you be getting Twitter now somebody else has recommended it then?
Whilst I appreciate the part Chris Webb and the Trust played in not letting PAFC die, I really don't see the point in contacting him on Twitter or anywhere else as I've seen what happens to people that disagree with the masses on Pasoti. They are accused of "Not being a true fan" or "Are you sure HP is the place for you" ! With all due respect, everyone is different whether you are a fan that has their view blocked by a massive flag and sings their heart out throughout the match, someone who claps now and then, or someone who just sits there quietly watching the match. Its called Equality and Diversity but that doesn't make them any less a fan than the next man/woman. I am a rebel ! an old one but still a rebel, and if anyone tells me to do something I wont on principle .... you can ask me but please don't ever tell me ! I don't think the views on Pasoti should be thought of as the mass majorities views who attend HP and perhaps it should be arranged to have people stood at the turnstyles at the Lyndhurst block asking the fans do they want a massive flag or not .... its called democracy or it was the last time I looked.
The totally dimwitted thing about the "Are you sure HP is the place for you" comments is of course that anyone who turns up, even if they spend their time debating how Marxism Today could be restarted in the digital age, is that they pay £20 to the club for the privilege.....
You don't shop in Primark do you sensible............it'll do your back in having to pick stuff off the floor...........it always reminds me of a jumble sale before they have sorted things out and put it on the tables. There is a large one in Bromley...........it breaks your heart to walk around the place.............it used to be a Department Store called Allders five years ago..........a fantastic quality store.......with everything you could need...........a similar experience to shopping in John Lewis...........where you could buy things that you could wash without it shrinking or changing colour or have to throw away after a couple of months............tat for sale if your brave.............you might of noticed I am not a fan of Primark.........their prices suggest that they buy things from Asia...........where half a bowl of rice is a days pay............I don't support that type of business............OK I'll go back to sleep now.
I personally think the current flag looks really impressive. My problem with it all is the way it's being forced on people who don't want it. Organised atmosphere? Songsheets being passed out? It just all doesn't seem like my cup of tea. When I go to games I sing and applaud. That's my choice. I try and find an area were there are others that do the same. I wouldn't for one min ute think to go into the Grandstand and start a chant ot two. People attend games and have different attitudes to what goes on. Some people want to concentrate on the game and sit quietly, some want to make as much noise as possible. With the Devonport flag and the laughable "Ultras", it's been a couple of games now and personally if I didn't want the flag passed over me and didn't want to join in a couple of terrible verses of a song that no-one seems to know fully, I would move slightly to avoid it, and let's be honest, it's not like you couldn't find an empty seat too far away! But to now be planning another giant flag for the Lyndhurst just seems to be pushing it too far. Fine have one area for the flags, waving scarves and singing, but what next? A flag for the Grandstand? A drummer in the Directors Box? People wouldn't put up with it there so stop trying to force people to join in when they don't want to. Have one area, like blocks 17+18 opened back up, for the more exuberant fans, and anyone not wanting to join in can stay clear if they want. If people who have always frequented the Devonport End want to join in the fun then they should move to where the action is. People who have sat in the same seat for years who don't want the flags and singing around them have just as much right to sit quietly having paid for their ticket. I find it humourous to see that some people on Pasoti are trying to say that the flag and atmosphere has coincided with the upturn in form? Haven't been to the games where the Ultras are now in full flow, but listening to Sparksy, he described Home Park as a library against Crawley, and I really don't buy into Chris Webb's theory that the flag intimidates the opposition. I know that some people have strange fears like not liking clowns, but I've never heard of flagophobia. I also don't think the cost of the flag should be brought into any arguments. The flag was paid for with donations and by selling the new scarves, so thats fine by me. I still feel that James Brent should have dipped into his pocket a bit deeper to pay the staff their back wages more quickly, as I don't really see that he has made much of an investment at all yet, but people saying the flag is an insult to the staff owed wages, is also over the top. I'm off to Port Vale on Saturday so I'll let you all know what the atmosphere is like, although there has never realy been a problem with the away support, and it hasn't overly inspired the troops over the past few seasons has it?
I forgot to add as well, that Chris Webb would not put up with his postal workers being "forced" to go along with anything new without the whole of the postal service going on strike for 2 weeks, and yet in his El Presidente role, where he seems to have abandoned all of his old principles in exchange for a seat at James Brent's side, anything anti-Brent or even questioning Brent is absolutely ridiculous. Anyone who doesn't agree with Webb and Newell and the Pasoti mods, is either banned or ridiculed or has their posts consigned to Junior Pasoti as a punishment. Questions to The Trust were deleted recently if the usual suspects deemed them not suitable to be asked. Pasoti has rapidly become a PR site for James Brent where discussion is frowned upon, and a "Stepford Husbands" culture is encouraged. Kim Jung Ill would have been extremely proud of his brave comrades.
6000 + supporters...............say that 5500 aren't on any type of fans forum...........that is the silent majority..........what are their views regarding flags...........and maybe having a megaphone stuck in their ear to get them to sing..............we have ways of making you ............exterminate...exterminate ........sorry I got a bit over excited at the thought.
You could be right about the megaphone Plymborn, In the Presidents Progress update, enthralling and impartial as ever, he mentions the addition of something that will raise the volume another notch for the Southend game, so either a drum or megaphone. I can see more dissent in the ranks on the horizon, but no doubt it will intimidate Southend into submission so it will be totally justified. Do you think Sensible will be the cheerleader with the megaphone?
I'm bloody ace at waving my pompoms in public greenjock. My kids always thought I didn't need a megaphone when they were young. I agree all around that there are all sorts who go to matches and behave in a 101 different ways. I'm not the singing type but I do clap and stand and shout at dubious decisions and such. I used to like to stand to watch football on the other side to where I'm now forced to sit. This area is dubiously called the "Moanflower" although that desciption was far from true. Part of the reason why I liked to stand was I could run 5 yards and shout at something rather than sit and tut. If Argyle scored then I would be off up the terrace with arms held aloft. Never did get a lot of exercise in most games though. Other people would just stand and chat about what was going on. What I don't do is community singing. It is a football match not songs of praise on the tele. I don't do waving flags either and my opinion is that it looks good once and ok maybe twice but after that is old hat and the interest in it soon dies away. Complete waste of money.
I bet Primark could supply a big flag for a fraction of £3000..........and when the fad dies out you won't need to store it anywhere........because it will look like a second-hand rag by then.
I bet you could do a few twirls with your baton as well sensible............but not on a very cold day..........you'd catch your death........or be arrested.
It's £2.99 so I can buy one of notdistant's handkerchiefs for the away end. (Bet he only shops in a "Gentleman's Outfitters")
I've noticed that you are capable of "popping up" yourself either late in the evening or early morning. Quite a talent that. I'm never much up for baton twirling early in the morning myself but that is impressive at your age plymborn.
