You haven't seen the outrage in the HDM when it has been described as a coastal town in some article in the nationals? Seen it described this in the Guardian amongst others.
I can understand Brid isn't every bodies cup of tea, but I know Blackpool pretty well and can't stand the place. Rhyl is also a complete ****hole. I like Brid and the grandaughter (6) can have a nice beach holiday every summer, but I can see why some people wouldnt like it
Salisbury is a fantastic place. Had 4 wonderful years there. It’s different to Hull, of course the **** it is but that’s true wherever you go- embrace the difference and enjoy it, find something different to do. As for fish and chips though it’s true they don’t have a clue, never found a good one .
My best Aussie girl friend was born/ bred in Rhyl and has lived here for almost 50 years . She regularly returns but I have never been. My best UK girl friend(aged 90) has just left Norfolk to be with her son in Devon after living for over 60 years in a lovely house with adjacent boat house on the Broads. Loved visiting her and Norwich. Only passed through Bridlington on the way to visit Scarborough and Whitby when I last came to Hull in 2010.. Both my husband and Yardley Tiger worked as students at the old Marlborough Cafe on the Esplanade. YT(waiter) was there for 1 summer season and my husband(kitchen) for 2. My husband had some great times there especially at the Spa. One event marred his time there when his best mate was stabbed after being hassled by a gang of Boys Brigade youths on holiday from Glasgow. It was touch and go before his mate survived the attack after several blood transfusions.
Missus Blue. Your post is how every 'off topic' post should be. There's good and bad wherever we go in the world and I think 99% of it on here is just banter and shouldn't ever be taken seriously. Everywhere is good and as our Filey will always tell us, every day is a good day. x
Some people do but for me it's just more people getting in the way. I'd rather go to Easington than Brid
My in laws live there so a regular visitor. At least the locals are frièndly and the black pudding is great.
Agreed. I've had our caravan at Burrs Country Park before, alongside aforementioned East Lancs Railway. I liked it (once I'd worked out the road system in the middle of Bury towing a 'van). Went to Rawtenstall on the train. Would you agree that that's a strange place?
