I've always thought the reason why Rangers & celtic are so big in comparison with other SPL teams such as Hearts & Hibs is becaause Glaswegians are not tight fisted like the rest of Scotland in particular the east coast and therefore are happy to spend their hard earned money (cue giro joke - hilarious) on following their respective teams. Now if 100,000 Hearts fans can turn out to see their team parading the scottish cup yesterday why cant these people fork out money to watch their beloved team week in week out and make their team a genuine force in Scottish football?

PS Gary Neville, Orgasms during commentary? Really?

1. i am a glory hunter - that said when i was a lad utd were far more succesful than the old firm - i support celtic because my dad did and took me to games

2. i am dundee donny - no seriously i have no idea what you are talking about

I think ticket prices and a lack of excitement have something to do with it.

Always said a bigger SPL with just one pro league below it and regional divisions below that would boost the game.

Too late now, the game is humped.

His point is about non-OF firms, in particular the 100k that turned out to see Hearts parade the Scottish Cup, yet they can't fill their stadium.

Yes and I can remember when you were really **** and got 5000 at Ibrox.

Dead easy to follow a successful team - comprised mainly of glory hunters.

And the whole of Scotland is looked on as being mean ya dumplin <laugh>

Nice try sonny, I'll give you that <laugh>

How did we become big though?

Initially Rangers were a big club based on sectarian bigotry and hence had a large following which brought success. Glasgow is rife and and has been for centuries with intolerance and bigotry. In 1980 Rangers suddenly became **** and supporters deserted them in their droves, hence the reference to crowds of 5000 on occasions but you were perhaps not alive then to know about this. If it wasn't for the huge amounts of money ploughed into the club from 1986 onwards there would have been a fair chance you might still be ****. The three dominant teams were Dundee Utd, Aberdeen and Celtic up till money rescued Rangers. Even with vast amounts of money you still had to resort to cheating and skullduggery to continue that success.

Anything else you would like to know sonny?
