As we progress towards the final games, the stat's become impossible to use a gauge of the final places. Peterborough and Sunderland this weekend as they are not playing will have three games in hand over us.
Thanks, I started it, stopped to do something else and didn't engage enough brain cells when I went back to it!!
He was one of the few managers/coaches that gave us positive credit for the way we play. From Every other ****ers it’s excuse after excuse, from the lack of grass to the lack of supporters through the gate and luck was on our side...every game.... I’ve a lot of time for Mr Jacket!!!!
It was refusal to condemn Millwall supporters for racist chanting v West Ham and labelling disorder during another game as just "passionate support" that formed my opinion of him. I might be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time!
I tell you what All of a sudden these games in hand become tough as mid table teams start to scramble to avoid the drop or make the playoffs,
Ignoring all other teams you can look into how many points over the last 15 seasons (excluding last season as it wasn't a full season) were needed to finish in the top two or play offs as a guided guess to what will be required. City are on track to finish with 85 points. To finish top the average points needed is 96. The lowest was Doncaster in 12/13 with 84, highest was Wolves with 103. To finish 2nd the average needed is 88. The lowest was Forest in 07/08 with 82, highest was Blackburn in 17/18 with 96. To finish in the playoffs the average needed is 74. The lowest was Chesterfield in 14/15 with 69, highest was Huddersfield in 09/10 with 80. This season looks like the top 2 could be the new lowest points total over the last 15 years though. What an extremely long way to say you're correct. It's impossible to gauge!
Just on stats Wilks must be on for 25? League goals Where does that stand on the all time rankings for us?
Hernandez didn't quite get to 25. His highest was 22 with 20 in the league. Elliott got 27 in the league in 04/05.
24 would make him joint 13th. The last 5 to get 25: Stuart Elliot (27) - 04/05 Andy Payton (25) - 90/91 Keith Edwards (26) - 88/89 Les Mutrie (27) - 81/82 Ken Wagstaff (27) - 65/66
Looking at other clubs subjectively rather than statistically, I think SAFC look very solid and are coming to the fore. Possibly this Papper John thing will hamper them in some way and distract them. Lincoln and Peterbro have both faltered in recent weeks, other than that they are very evenly matched. I think Donny and Pompey have gone Its 2 from us, SAFC, Posh and Lincoln- and I'd like to think we've had our wobble whereas the others are still having tremors.
.... And there'll be at least 3 Saturdays where we'll be fresh having not played midweek when they have.
