That sounds pretty good actually although my judgement is based upon wishful thinking and my analysis upon gut-feel.
I have NO idea where you are getting your information from, but Appleton has NOT said that he doesn't think any first teamers will be at the club. In fact, I am pretty sure he has said he is sure 1 or 2 will be around, and that he's hoping 3 or 4 may still be there. Try a bit harder next time please Also, there won't be any points deductions
Well, here is the link http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17892710 Where Appleton is quoted "I would be surprised if there were one or two players left from this squad next season" The implication being that he expected less than one or two. Hey, I am not trying to wind anyone up, just pointing out that under the circumstances it's not possible to answer the question posed. I hope that you are right about the points deduction, but that is far from certain as well.
Anything is an option. This is football. Is promotion realistic? No, of course not, especially not at this time when we dont have a single 1st team goalkeeper, but nobody can predict how the season will develop.
I think it all hinges on whether the league deducts any points (since CVA1 being folded into the CVA2 shows the failure of CVA1. From that, it can be argued that its the same as not having had one in the first place.) If they do deduct points (they probably won't,) I think you can kiss goodbye to promotion. You'll have to storm the league from start to finish to make up the difference, and I'm not sure how possible that with a brand new squad. Plus the fact that you'll be seen as a scalp in L1 like we were, and team will play their bollocks of against you.
No points deduction it is then! At least we're starting on level terms! Looking forward to next year whatever the outcome! Pup
I all fairness we're not really going to be able to answer the question with any authority until August.
Surely there are some really , really crap sides in League 1 that we can finish well above if we are starting on a level playing field(probably not the case in League 1- we will be a big fish in a small pond I guess particularly if we start well!)PUP
BC couldnt give a stuff about your club all he's interested in is his money and the first chance he gets to get some of his investment back he will. I think you will offload a few players in the next few weeks as your crowds will reduce and you cant afford the salaries you are paying players in L1 and i see another season of struggle for you. Be prepared for the Paolo revolution that is taking place and dont underestimate us as a team as a few of you have already by coming on our forum and saying we will get relegated. Check the bookies who are always fairly spot on and check our odds and then you will need to start believing we are on the up with Paolo at the helm.
@bilko, yes there has been ONE idiot saying you lot are you going down, welcome to the happy little of world of SB3. i think anybody with a sense of realism will see swindon will probably finish above us depending on how good a squad appy can build with free transfers and youth.
