Wonder if a player, relegated with us last season and having their contract cut, has it automatically increased to previous levels if promoted?
Our wage budget last season was very low relatively speaking, it obviously went down even more after Bowen and Grosicki left. There’ll be promotion clauses, but they won’t go up by loads.
If anyone is still with us from the relegation season will see their contract automatically rise by the same % as it dropped when we came down.
Or we won’t sign them back on We have A choice with Burke of the extra year We might not want to pay what he was on last time? If he doesn’t agree we could just let him go??! I think? there may be others ?
Even if we didn't want to pay it, we would have it as it's written into the contract. If they have time left on the contract then we can't do anything about it. If they are out of contract at the end of the season then we could release them just the same as they could walk away. When it comes to Burke, then I don't think we will have any issue.
That’s interesting. I have a feeling Burke might leave in the summer and we will put his money into a new contract for Jones and a new more experienced CB.
Yeah, there's a few up in the summer. Burke, Magennis, Long, Jones too. All have 1 year options I think, but you'd think we'd have exercised those by now. If recent years are anything to go by, they'll all leave. I hope none do.
