If by some strange miracle Rotherham or Northampton won all their remaining games we could only afford to lose 2 or 4 games.

Gillingham games remaining 13, maximum points 104.

Rotherham games remaining 14, maximum points 97.

Northampton games remaining 12, maximum points 91.

Automatic promotion is guaranteed if we don't lose more than 2 games, the likelihood of Rotherham or Northampton going on a 12/14 game winning run are unlikely, though not impossible. Rotherham are clearly our biggest concern at the moment but every time we can get a victory their task becomes harder, everything is crossed.

I fear the loss of Cody will seriously impact upon our promotion chances. We'll probably still go up, but I don't think we'll win as many games as we would with him in the side. Birchall has got to produce against a poor Oxford side tomorrow, not necessarly score but put in a good performance, or else we need to loan someone in.

While we will suffer PMT (pre match tension) before every game for the rest of the season,& be constantly looking over our
shoulder for Fatty Managers and their expensive laddies in hot pursuit; it is important we take time out to enjoy and savour our situation.
I was a teenager at the Rainham End in 63/64 when we became Champs of Div 4. I could not have realised then how long it would
take before we might just become Champs one more time.
So make the most of it while it lasts guys! UTG!

O K if anyone disrespects Old Timer in Cyprus for disclosing that he must surely be the oldest member of this forum, I will ensure that the 2nd oldest member bans you.

I was also there for the 63/4 championship and suffered PMT for the whole season, I will continue to suffer PMT for the rest of this season as I did last season and the season before that and every other season since 1957 when I watched my first game.
I think I'm going PMT crazy, UTG.

Its a big night for the statisticians. If Gills can beat Oxford, and if Accrington and Plymouth both lose, then we will need just two points to be safe (from relegation).

bristol407 - How many stats would you like, I've got them all lined up for the season. <laugh>

First one, tonight a minimum of two of these four promotion chasing teams (unless matches are postponed) will drop points: Port Vale, Exeter, Cheltenham, Fleetwood.

Second, on Saturday a minimum of two of these four promotion chasing teams (unless matches are postponed) will drop points: Northampton, Exeter, Rotherham, Southend.

Keep the faith, soon be Easter <whistle>

    Hi OTC,
I went with my Uncle to my first game, my birthday is sep 9th and there was a game on the 7th so that was my present.
It was against Newport County and we lost 0 - 1 though I don't remember much about the match, just the noise of the rattles, shouting, singing, and a cup of Bovril.

My uncle played for Gills as a lad but his dad wouldn't let him sign when he left school, football was dead end so he was forced into a apprenticeship instead, parents ruled supreme in those days.

What a difference one game can have, i hope it's not a factor, but the last game of the season away to Burton could be a big game for many different reasons and they have been immense at home as well...just hope we don't have to rely on that game !

I have not updated my stats but I know this result has yet again thrown it back in favour of my season long prediction of 83 points. The variance -/+ has been consistent all season. This was an opportunity to break that mould. We failed last night on the last game this month to equal the performances of September and October. If it is of any interest to anyone, my stats gave us an win away to Aldershot, failure to win that will put us on that exact 83 point marker. After that it will be a choice of either improve or free fall or just maybe I should have put a bet on my prediction!

With all eyes being at the top of the table yesterday, I am not sure if anyone has realised but with eleven games remaining we are now 15 points clear of Southend and Fleetwood on the brink of the playoff places. Also both Southend and Fleetwood have to meet on the 1st April. Add to that while we meet Plymouth at home on Saturday 9th March, Southend face Port Vale and Fleetwood face Exeter City.

My stats are too large a file to upload, however, to give you a brief view of the remainder of the season (please ignore the date for the Southend/Aldershot fixture):

In relation to my season long prediction of 83 points, we currently stand at +1 (84) to my own personal forecasts. However, we really need to be taking the three points against Plymouth on Saturday. I just do not want to go into those last three games of the season needing points for the autos. Let us keep that gap between us and the playoffs and maintain or improve on it.
