it was a CD ffs (and not first choice probably not even 4th choice if we had others fit) and the ball came to him fast, cant really blame killa for that.
Don't really see either you or your mates from north of the river getting relegated.QPR are gone,Reading are following closely behind.Don't really fancy Villa too much myself but the third place could easily be someone not currently in the frame.
Sorry to break it to you Steve, but a player is only blown up for offside once he affects play - otherwise every time a team has the ball and their striker wanders offside the whistle would go. So here, Bassong is only offside once he touches the ball - he did it from an offside position. So the first incident is in fact the handball. None of that takes away from the fact that you lot really deserved something from this game. You played better in the second half than either Man U or Arsenal did in ninety against us. I can see that the table makes for grim reading ATM, but trust me, there are minimum 4 teams worse than you (in form as well as players) so while you might be in the mix, as we will, I very much doubt you'll go down. Once Sessegnon hits his best (he looked very dangerous today) and Larsson gets played in position, you'll be fine. I think you also played us at a very bad time. Lady Luck seems to be doing her very best for us. No consolation, I know, but luck does broadly even out over the season (outside of the top six or so)
what?? as soon as your player headed it in the box bassong was in an offside postition = offside whichever way you look at it as he got the ball, if the header had gone straight in the net, fair enough but it landed right at his feet = offside.
Not offside until he touches the ball. The handball occured before Bassong touched it, therefore the correct decision would have been a penalty.
Yeah but Steve the point is that if the ref got all the decisions in that particular move correct then norwich would have had a penalty, what you have quoted there, yes, means that no matter what a goal shouldn't have been given, but there's not really any grounds for complaint.
?? - But FIFA directed (Oct 2011) that if a players actions “Can be observed peripherally” by the defending player then an opposing player is defined as “gaining an advantage by being in that position” under Rule Law 11-Offside.
You're not wrong, he WAS offside (even though MOTD seem to think not...) The point is when did he become offside. He is only offside once he touches the ball or affects play, otherwise he's just in an offside position which isn't an offence. In this case, Bassong was offside after the ball was handled, so yes it should have been a pen. I can't see Holt missing a pen tbh, but regardless of all that, you still deserved a draw for the 2nd half performance and you were well unlucky
Yes, but his actions couldn't be observed peripherally until after the ball is handled. That rule is designed to catch players who run at defenders from an offside position, making the defender react in a way that they wouldn't is the opponent wasn't there. That's affecting play. Bassong didn't do that, he actually played the ball while offside, so Bassong's offside offence occurred at the moment he touched the ball, not before it. That moment was after the handling offence. Should have been a pen
O/T Deludedtoon: I hope that tag isn't a reference to the guy being abused as a kid, because that's not really funny and just a bit sick. Stick to football stuff- try the QPR board over the summer, you'd have picked up some classics
He is a proffesional ball kicker in your squad what ever position he plays he should have scored got to be one of the most glaring misses I have ever seen in over 30 years at Norwich!
Nothing to apologise for. Child abuse and jokes about it are one thing I've always been very against. So painful for some people.
CR - What a great game it is. TBH sometimes I have to rack by brains as to why dessissions have or have not been made by a Ref & used the rewind more than once. Man they have such hard job to do & I really get pissed off when people slag them off. I've seen it so often in junior football often ending in not only verbal but physical abuse. I've been on the end of it a few times & from memory it usally "offside" calls lol. Some should try giving something back by doing there badges rather than sitting in a stand or behind a keyboard. I'll take a close look later at the incident. Good post BTW No problem at all. CR has explained it really well which is what I was getting at. It's a ruling that about 90% of fans are unaware of. Best wishes for the season
Don't worry mate, although Deluded is clearly sick, he made his signature up all on his own. As he is a renowned liar on this board. In his sad little world if you tell lies enough they come true. Where as my signature is actually a direct quote from him under his alter ego.
