You can't just change the parameters to suit your argument. People would certainly not be happy if we played exciting football but went down. I agree that we could certainly play a more positive style and stay up but like it or not the more disciplined shape that CH has bought in was required. To be successful long term in the prem we did have to show more discipline in terms of shape from a defensive point of view, my hope was once we had achieved that we could then build on it with more positive play.
I didn't change the parameters, they are exactly the same just with my opinion replacing your option.
Well they weren't my options as I didn't ask the original question. But you did change the question as you said, basically people would not be happy if we went down however well or badly we play. Although I agree with you it shouldn't matter, however we play we should have enough to stay up.
But Rick If we have scored less than last season Conceded more than last season Have less points at the half way stage than last season And potentially the last five games could well be pointless, where are these 40+ points coming from?
Hull (H) Newcastle (H) Cardiff (A) Man City (H) West Ham (A) Spurs (H) Villa (A) Stoke (H) Southampton (A) Sunderland (H) Swansea (A) WBA (H) Fulham (A) Taking out Man City, that's 12 games we've got a reasonable chance to pick points up in. We need 20 points, so that's probably 5 wins, 5 draws (seeing as that's how the first half of the season went), or going all-but unbeaten with 4 wins and 8 draws. 5 wins: Hull, Stoke, WBA, Sunderland all at home + 1 other 5 draws: Newcastle, Cardiff, West Ham, Villa, Swansea The points are there, and we'll have some players returning from injury, and ideally a signing or two to help us get them.
The more I see of The Premiership the more convinced I become that 38 is going to be enough.as the number of games remaining runs down the ascent to that point becomes steeper for the bottom clubs.cardiff v West Ham is going to exacerbate that for at least one of them.West Ham currently getting beaten 3-0 by Championship play off contenders.
Whether or not CH stays or goes is not important to me, but I'd REALLY like to see a change in the coaching staff - someone who can instil in the midfielders/wingers to look for a better placed player, rather than shoot from distance.
As I put in the transfers thread, the rumour mill suggests this has already happened. Can't find anything to support it though!
