I haven't forgotten. I remember a minority moaning about him. Idiots. I remember his song, kids (and men) with his name on their replica shirts etc.
Rosenior draws level with his old gaffer Nigel with 64 games managed for us. 1.41 points per game for Liam, 1.39 for Nigel, 1.25 goals per game for Liam, 1.08 for Nigel. Not too shabby in his first proper spell in management. Suspect it would weight more heavily in Liam's favour if just this season was considered. And for all the argument about Nigel's side when he came to City, he did get players like Fryatt and Koren in reasonably quickly to improve the side.
Ashbee’s reputation and standing was very odd in its progression. He was extremely unpopular in League 2, routinely slagged off. In League 1 still very unpopular but not quite as bad as League 2. Championship he had a lot of criticism but nowhere near the levels before. His seasons in the Prem were his best in terms of popularity. So the same player who played the same in the same position in every league apparently went from ****e to brilliant as the standard got more difficult.
Last night (Southampton) we saw real progress. Well done Rosenior. This time we out thought and out fought the opposition. Rosenior has repeatedly said he wants the players to be brave. Words are easy. Last night, finally, they were. It just shows what we can do when we (are allowed to) play with bravery, energy, positivity, pressing. As was said following Cardiff, the bar has been set; let's keep it up now. On the practical side, he has to get Allsop & Seri to cut out those ridiculous passes which nearly cost us dearly last night. If they had scored from the early one (of 2 or 3), which they should have done, it would likely have been quite a different outcome last night. We also have to get to be a lot more clinical; we wasted so many really good chances, especially but not only first half. Well done. Superb performance, particularly including from Rosenior for the way he set us up and had us playing. We knew the team has it in them, which is I guess why some of us get so frustrated when we don't see the qualities we saw last night.
I didn’t see the game last night, but from reading a lot of the comments here and from the Southampton side of things, it seems many were impressed by the way we got the ball back so quickly. I remember being really impressed by that in the first 20/30 minutes against Millwall. We were constantly on them in that half and I do think it’s why we played so well. The challenge now seems to be whether we can do that consistently. Let’s hope so.
Which may support the adage that suggests the better the players you play with, the better your performance becomes ?
It would be a nightmare. Hull trains won't be able to accommodate all hull fans. I suspect a lot would have to join services possibly used by scum fans.
A Leeds fan I know was hoping Hull City would beat Southampton as he reckons Leeds are **** in playoffs so need an automatic spot.
Wouldn’t mind if we missed out Leeds going up and coming back down after a season of humiliation as, after a brilliant season, we go up and replace them.
