Yeah, try hard sums it up completely. Nowt wrong with crying through films mate, The Notebook, The Green Mile and Terminator 2 have all had me weeping! Love Hugh Jackman but he couldn't save Prisoners for me, found it disturbing as ****. On the topic of disturbing... Watched Killer Joe the other day and Mr McConaughey blew me away... Again. Nowt that man can't pull off at the moment. I thought Lucy was near enough ******ed if I'm honest. I just didn't get it and switched it off after half an hour.
I did cry mate, I was ****ing balling my eyes out, the notebook's got nowt on that, although I cried more at Warrior. I'll have a look at that Killer Joe, I agree with you about MM, he's on form. Lucy was a plot that could have been so much better but it just went all wrong too fast. The flashes to images was just awful, every 5 seconds, so annoying. It could have been brilliant if they'd just done it properly. You seen Brick Mansions?
Warrior didn't get me crying but I must admit I was astounded that they got me to love a film based on MMA. First time I properly saw how good an actor Joel Edgerton is too. That lad beats Tom Hardy for me. Watch Animal Kingdom mate... One of the best films I've seen in the last ten years! Killer Joe is anything but pleasant viewing but I really like it's portrayal on backwards, bible belt hillbilly America, worth a go but I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking it's too grim. Yet to see BM but I'm intrigued. I think Paul Walker probably had a few decent performances in him had he got away from The Fast and the Furious stuff (Which I don't hate for what it is). Really fascinated by how Detroit has gone to pot so it's on my to watch list. Any good?
Warrior was a bit closer to home for me than just a film, me and my brothers fell out big time for a long time and I'm in to MMA and I guess I have low standards as it is, I'm just happy when I'm not watching a rom-com mate! I liked Brick Mansions, not in a 'he's a great actor' sort of way, just good action and some good arse kicking scenes. Character the call Lino is very good in it, he's cool as **** in like a 'Leon' sort of way, maybe not as cool as Leon. That' FAF stuff is all ****e, can't stand stuff like that. I downloaded the True Detective series by the way, hopefully I'll watch it soon!
Mate get onto it! The second series is going into production soon and it's going to be utterly ****ing ****.
Forever the optimist Disco hahaha The Mrs has an obsession with Shailene Woodley at the minute (hence me watching Fault In Our Stars, that's a lot more than a dreary 'Oscar-chasing' cancer film by the way) despite saying her new obsession was Matthew Mc...hey only days earlier, I had high hopes we'd be watching the series but out of nowhere came a wave of girlie films. I got to see her tits in one though, which was Buenos.
Mate... No Mathew MaC, no Woody Harrelson, no Fukunaga... They're being replaced with Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughan and Justin Lin (The bloke that directed all of the Fast and Furious')
I've not of heard any romance in it. I've heard it about a couple of DJ lads who plan a trip to the states to find rare records to bring back to stay at the top of the DJ ladder.
Obviously. FFS. To be fair, MM is probably way out of their budget now. I'll let you know when I start watching
It's directed by a bird and they've cast Antonia Thomas (FIT) from Misfits in a role. I promise you there will be some sort of romance which seems forced and wholly unnecessary.
I don't hate Colin Farrell but the lad cannot do accents. VV is just a bit of a joke. Agreed about MM, he was clever to dip into TV for it but I don't see him cheating on Hollywood for quite some time now.
That doesn't mean out to me like, women were at the heart of the northern soul movement, the person who ran the darlo scene is a bird, she organised the excursions, put on the busses on and set up digs, she ran the whole thing whilst being under 18. Doesn't sound like a romance is at the heart of the film mate, there's no mention of it anywhere i've read, I don't care if it's part of a side story, it's fact of life so would be unrealistic to have no element of it at all. Even action movies often have romantic side stories so it's not putting me off at all. Won't be watching it in the cinema like, hate watching films with strangers.
Don't get me wrong mate, nowt wrong with romance in a film. Casablanca is the greatest film ever made and it's essentially a love story with a works war two backdrop. That said some films feel like they were written and some idiot then decided... ****. Where's the leading lady? How do we sell it to a wider audience... I know... he's got this missus. It ends up taking away from the story. I know ladies were important to northern soul mate as they are to any subculture whether that be punks, bikers, mods or goths. I'm not saying have an all male cast or even all male leads. Just don't throw an arc in for marketing purposes at the expense of the story.
Well we'll know if it spoils it once we've seen it init marra. You planing on watching Get On Up the James Brown film? I wasn't sure because I've read that the story is shuffled around, so I watch Ray where I knew they did the same and I didn't find it too bad so looking forward to it. Nowt like seeing what kind of Bastards your hero's are.
