I think we have to stay patient until LM'S spent the money in the summer and a dozen or so games next season. My underlying worry with LM is twofold. He's not brilliant at reacting in games and more worrying is his deadpan personality. Not sure he inspires or that our lot would run through a brick wall for him. Clifton So you never played 3-3-3-1 at Melksham. It was our go-to formation at Clandown
Bring back Sean O'Driscoll or Derek McInnes, that's only if you remember them and their achievements. Not!
I saw a very sad dejected Liam in his post match interview today and that in itself is concerning. He knows as well as us that he is in a results based business and you fail at your own peril and it has to have reached the point where he must be questioning himself regarding leaving the relative safety of lower level management. I have no axe to grind with the man but I do believe he fell for the Lansdown hype hook line and sinker. Things would have to get a whole lot worse before he could get fired, but as we all know sometimes rash decisions are made by top brass when things are essentially acceptable.
Looking at the body language he is on borrowed time-Sits at the feet of the Lansdown's -we would not be sitting 6 points of bottom three with Nige in charge with IPSWICH-SWANSEA -WBA -LEICESTER- up next. 0 points there me babbers.
Sounds like you want him to fail RR. Just because the affection you had for Nige.. The funny thing is, it was no better under him..it should have been much better… He underachieved..
On what basis do you make this prediction RR? Nothing about our performances last season, or this season under Nige led me to believe we would be anything other than mid-table this season at best, which is where we are right now. Nige, with all his experience and 'know how' was not doing anything better in terms of performances or results, not matter how you try to swing it, the facts just don't back it up.
I would say in defence of Liam, he is at least trying to play good football, it may not be working consistantly just yet, but at least he doesn't resort to the long ball tactic we saw freqauntly in the second half under Nige. We never had the players for that, and the ball just kept coming back. Give Liam the rest of this season, a pre-season and a transfer window at least to see what he can do.
Sadly not-i just do not see the improvements under him that JL said we would-an upgrade with a young and upcoming manager he said. This is a appointment that is going to backfire on the Lansdown's.
It takes time. Nige had decades of experience and was no better, why would you stick with consistent lower half mediocrity, and a manager that is critical in public of the owners, as Nige was if your Mr Landsdown? Is that your ambition for our club RR, it seems it is....
There is no doubt in my opinion that Nige stablised our club during a difficult period of restraint and caution, the club had a policy of reduction of debt and playing staff caused by excessive investment in previous years and the pandemic controls, I was never an advocate of sacking Nige but he has gone Manning was appointed, we are struggling but it's obvious a change of style and leadership is creating a lot of our difficulties but I think the worse thing to do would be to sack the bloke in panic, we must give him the time and backing to sort it,. The decision to change things was soley down to the Lansdowns, they didn't like to be challenged, it was personal but they own our club so it has to be accepted, failure now is down to them and that is whom we should be directing our criticisms, Nige is history, LJ & DH are history, Manning is the man in charge and deserves all of our support till the season end and that is when judgements should be determined.
We have to go into those games as fans with hope and positive thinking, things have never changed, some you win, some you lose, thats bloody football, you never know, most unlikely but we could all be smiling on Wednesday morning.
I see only the swans as a possible chance but i rate them better than Cardiff -the other three no chance on current form.
