What gets me is that every time we play a time in poor for (like Boro) we cop it, why could we not draw last week and win this week? can these players be up for consecutive matches?. We keep Man c out and win then this, unless he gets at least one striker in we will struggle, and this hit long balls thing is poor too. Vaughn had a bad game as well as Whickam. And just because we have about 4 strikers (Sess is a midfielder) they are not as good as Bent or Jones end of story.

Syd, you cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear.......but MON has done very well so far with what he has. Okay you were bored by the Swansea game but how did you like the 3 points. As long as we can hold our own with what we have for the rest of the season we should look forward to seeing what MON brings to the team in the summer. Enough said!!!!

Boro did indeed play very well and deserve massive credit and if they had not it may not have exposed some slight weaknesses in our squad at the moment. MON knows more than i ever could dream about knowing and hopefully will have learnt more about us and where we need to strenghen. The best thing about this lesson is that we havent lost and can still progress in the FA CUP which we all want to do. We missed Catts today, i think Vaughan and Gardner were too similar in the middle and Catts would probably work better with either of them. Bendtner was a miss today. Best thing though Campbell's goal, over the moon for the kid and he will only get better as he gets more time.

I would do anything to see ONE game at the SOL.

So on Wednesday, as you sit in your seat looking out over the pitch, give just a moment's thought to those who would love to join you but can't.

    Then enjoy the game.

Well Hughes was my first choice, however totally behind MON - he is getting the best out of the players - I'm positive after today he will re-focus and I'm expecting a cracking match on Weds night with our counter attacking a Norwich team that love to come forward.

If we win then will move up and O'Neill could well land consecutive Manager of the Month awards.

His turnaround of the club has exceeded my wildest dreams with Campbell looking as if he will compliment our pace driven attack I'm very optimistic for the future and cannot fathom the fresh shoots of negativity, bearing in mind our season prior to his arrival.

Oh dear Cest, very untrue and very uncalled for, I have not had any dig at MON,I have said that we need a striker, today again proved it and I did say I like MON.

Its rather sad to me that by being honest about the last few games you see it being an attack, it is possible to be critical of things without being critical of MON. I suggest you try reading the OP again Cest, without the pre concieved thoughts you have.

Syd, I can see your point and it's not a dig at MoN in the slightest, most of us know he's the best thing that could have happened to this club, but unfotunately it's a team he's inherited and he's having to make do.

Having said that Syd, I always assumed you as keeping quiet right after a game and letting it digest until the following day then make your positive opinion's of all things red and white.... chin up.

i can sympathise with those who aren't over enamoured by o'neill's preferred style, but for me personally, i love it, i love watching fast players busting a gut to turn the other team's attack right on its head and see the ball buried in their own net before they can draw breath.

it would be great if we could knock the ball around like barcelona, but they're a one-off for good reason - it's very hard to do, and us mere mortals have to make do with something a bit less exciting. we could try, but then we'd be like swansea, all hat and no cattle, knocking the ball about in our own half. i mean really syd, would you rather see us play like that, or play how we play??

for those saying o'neill is simply making ends meet until such time as he can bring in his own players; nope. this is how he plays, and though he will bring in players more suited to the style, we will be playing with wingers and sitting back to catch teams on the break for as long as he is in the dugout.

i have to say this though syd, you sat through months on end of the rubbish under bruce but you won't watch us go and chase our seventh win in two month's under the new man?? you won't go and watch one of the most exciting wingers we've had in years continue his meteoric rise, or to see if a striker sidelined with career threatening injuries since august two years ago can make it two goals in two games?? come on......

Well I can see what Syd is trying to say. Swansea was boring but a professional performance and 3 points.

Today showed what we already knew we dont have as much strength in depth as we would like.

Syd is not saying he would rather Bruce had stayed just MONs style of play is different and will take time to get used to.

Cest I think MON is the best thing that has happened to Sunderland and cant wait to see how he changes things in the future

I think the OP is a bit crazy after 8 games with an average team. Have a look back at when Mancini took over Man city, first of all he secured them at the back, and over time he taught them to attack with the back-up of a very strong and organised defence.

Syd you have to look at the job MON has infront of him, he picked up a team with zero confidence that was leaking goals faster than our non existant strike force could score them. The first thing he had to do was stop the team conceding sloppy goals, the second was to put some organisation into the team, and the third was to get us scoring goals....... He has done all 3.

At the moment the football might not be that great, but we will have to wait untill MON brings in his own players to judge wether his team plays football or not, at the moment hes doing the best he can with the squad he has got, and this squad hasnt quite got the ability to pass the ball round like barcalona, but has got the ability to win games, and thats what MON has seen and installed.

I used to like watching his villa team, and MON had villa park packed out every week, its certainly not packed no more.

It is only a couple of months since we were bitching at Steve Bruce. Frankly, MO'N's done a brilliant job so far and given a bit of time and cash we'll have much to look forward to. Let's not get too fussy this early on. I think most people agree next season's when we can start judging what MO'N is getting up to.
