Realistic Nev. Even if we were given a stupid amount of money there is a limit to how much we're allowed to spend. It would be bad news anyway to be given a bottomless pit of cash. A good manager will make better decisions with at least some sort of budget rather than not having to think about it too much.

That's what I would be hoping for and that is more realistic. That and the investment in the local area that was also mentioned. I'm just pointing out that it will still be done on a budget, albeit a bigger budget than under Ashley if it happens. There's still an 'if' in there though because Ashley is still involved in these negotiations and we know how that can go.

 

of course i already said that ... climbing all the way over time with setbacks of course, but we have a chance to get up there..

Speaking on Sky Sports following a recent chat with the Reuben family, he’s revealed that it’s “only a matter of time” before the takeover will be announced – also claiming that the soon-to-be new owners plan to buy ‘big players‘ to take Newcastle ‘back to where it should be‘ at the top end of English football.

All teh clubs you list are in a better financial and playing staff position than Newcastle are. If your aim is to destroy these, you will need to pay higher wages/fees to take the players that could be looking at those clubs as a transfer destination (Everton made this error)

Then within whatever FFP outlines will be spend the money needed and try to grow commercial deals that give the funds needed to keep spending - remember all will be based on fair market value for the brand and other similar deals - so having a shirt deal at 150m a year wont cut it!

Im not mocking/laughing, far from it, I am a fan of a club that went through this, that thought the big time was back.....

Yes, it’s a ludicrous suggestion. Noting like that amount has ever been put into a football club by a set of owners, and there’s a reason for that (aside from the rules) - you’d never get a return on it.

 

Toon fans are gonna be gutted when they’re expected ‘big name’ signing turns out to be Jan Vennegoor-of-Hesselink.

 

Half a dozen Saudi players bought for the sum total of a pint of brown ale, who all happen to be related to the Saudi royals. All princes though.

 

PS Geordies, this is the Saudi investment fund not the ruler’s personal cash. They’re investing with a view to making a profit.
