i read something about the proper persons stuff. ...btw the other guys worth 18 billion..the aim is for the very top come saudis 2030 plan and europe in the next few years...
Even if 5 billion is given to Newcastle we would have a net increase of investment by 5 billion . We have literally been running on fumes for 13 years, i think the real underestimation here is how skint we have been and literally how anyone with a bit of a cash is an improvement.
I am only offering words of caution, Everton were in the same position. I thought we would be doing a City/Chelsea. The reality is much different, plus FFP means you cant just spunk money like there is no tomorrow. Great having aspirations for the top, but the clubs at the top have been there for the PL years, Newcastle have flirted with it for a few seasons. plus 5bn is over 10% of the fund they have, wild numbers!
This^ We’ve spent at the absolute maximum of what is allowed under PL / UEFA FFP, and that’s with bending the rules somewhat e.g. getting £30m for the rights to be the naming rights sponsor on the new stadium and the £12m a season they’re paying to sponsor the training ground. Our lot have circa £350m of investment in (excluding stadium costs). The days of Chelsea and City type splurges are gone, as City’s actions brought about the rule changes both domestically and in Europe.
Financial fairplay is being loosened and even with its simply a matter of time. to make it easier nufc will get better in every area
Okay, FFP is relaxed, to what extent? That will allow the teams already above you with wealthy owners and deals that are of a higher value than you have now to just keep spending. Wolves, Everton, Leicester and even Sheff United. Thats before you look at the big clubs sat in the positions your owners wish to occupy.
Not really a question worth considering yet, but if the club gets there any of them potentially could lose a spot ... its really about destroying your current opposition like Everton/ wolves and then leicester for now. It's a matter of time and going backwards and forwards.... but ultimately IF this happens Newcastle United will be improved in all areas of the club, so going forward overall is much more likely.
The club would get 1st pick ahead of those clubs .. better everyting ... over time nufc competeing simply be inevitable... the key words are money and time.
You need to calm down mate. They'll be laughing at all of us and not just you if this goes tits up If it happens then it will be a nice position to be in, but spending money is the easy part - spending it well is the hard part. If it wasn't then Mark Hughes would be a managerial legend right now (the mind boggles at that thought). Plus, as others have pointed out, we have no idea how much will be invested in the club regardless of the new owners total wealth. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about it as it can only be an improvement on Ashley if it goes through, but even in best case scenario it will take years to see that improvement translate to success, and success just means competing with other clubs who will also be investing for a limited number of trophies and European spots.
Lol Stan, if the money being discussed is true then 5 billion over 10 years wouldn't be too insane would it?
