Loads of clubs who like us don't have the benefit of parachute payments are spending cash on players! This FFP bollocks is just that!
Agreed, Warky. Like you, I am disappointed at the lack of ambition being shown by our club over the past two or three years. I thought the summer signings of Grant Ward and Adam Webster were possibly a sign that we were at least going to be in the market for affordable, quality players. However, nothing is really happening this window. If Chambers, a McCarthy favourite, leaves today, then I think it's a clear indication that we're going to be bringing in a new manager this summer.
Why do we have to develop other team's players? Isn't that what we have an expensive academy for? Where's Ben Morris? Is he good enough yet? He plays in the U23's against other championship squads, would that be considered an even level with non-league?
When you look at those clubs around us that have strengthened it is a bit of a worrying situation as a Town fan. All of: Wigan / Forest / QPR / Brizzle / Wolves / Villa / (even Blackburn?) have strengthened, in some cases in the exact areas we have been crying out for (Strikers and central midfielders competent in posession) If their new signings make an impact we could tumbling down the table pretty quickly
