Any one not wanting us to get promoted this season would do well to remember the long, very long, nineteen year gap we had between promotions, until Peter Taylor finally got us promoted. Grab promotion with both hands wrapped tightly around its throat.
What am I making up exactly? We've already got people calling for LR to go, and I'm saying those same people (plus presumably some extra ones) who would call for him to go if we missed play offs. We've already seen people saying play offs are a minimum expectation. If it's a minimum expectation I'm not sure what failing to meet that would mean for LR. Picking a fight over nothing again.. I'm not shocked.
I don't think anyone's said that. My comment was in the context of "If we're not going to go up I would rather..." as I don't think we'll win the play offs. I'd already clarified that's what I meant prior to this post.
Also many examples of clubs failing in the play offs one year but going up the next. Blunts, Brentford, TWS and Luton to name a few from very recent history
Yep very true, I'd actually forgotten Luton made the play offs the previous year (shouldn't have, Ingram was with them) so you're right, it's very random. And who knows, a play off campaign may put us on the map for a few extra quality players the following season if we don't go up. Maybe I'm just trying to mentally prepare myself so if/when we miss play offs I'm not as gutted.
"but I know for some that would mean LR must go" those are your words..... What you really mean is "you think". I know it'll be a difficult pill for you to swallow, but just because you think a lot, doesn't mean you know anything. Maybe if you didn't make **** up, twist things and find it so easy to make yourself unlikeable, then people would engage with you better and not pile in on you or whatever it was you was complaining about earlier.... Because the really decent viewpoints, comments and contributions you make at times, just get lost and forgotten about when you return to form
Maybe take a breath and realise it's a discussion board not a matter of life and death. I know that some will want him out because they already do. I didn't say it to bait a response or to 'twist things' it was a statement of fact. People will want him out if he fails to get us in the play offs. If that gets your back up then ignore the post and go back to liking any personal insults flowing my way to get your rocks off. Unlike some I go out of my way to refrain from personal insults unless something particularly extreme has been said to me first (and I'll happily be called out and apologise if that statement isn't true and I have played the man, because I very much try not to). Life's too short.
You'd certainly need to go into the play-offs with the belief that you can triumph. If you weren't successful you'd drown your sorrows(in your case with gassed up piss water),mope around for a week then start looking forward to the next season... I'm a great believer that no matter how much we fret or worry or plan out scenarios, nothing will change? We'll go up if we're good enough this season,if we don't we try again next season but trying to buy your way out of this League is fraught with danger and can set a Club financially for years to come... All still to play for,two important games this week and we'll see how the land lies come 5p.m on Saturday. Half the posts I write are full of utter ****e but they're 100% mine....
Everyone on here mate. Of course not literally every single poster, but your response was a bit unnecessary. Especially as you say since you haven't watched the game. Clearly PLT thought so too or he wouldn't have said anything. All good.
I wouldn't mope for a week, in fact I wouldn't mope at all and would be over it before I got to Argyle Street. . What comes comes, but at least this season hasn't, like so many others, had no meaning from late October. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Losing at Wembley definitely has a significant impact on sides and we've seen that quite a few times. I don't think we'd go up in the playoffs either, there's just 4 better sides than us in the league this year.
FWIW I don't think any championship team is "ready" to go up. Most promoted teams will need a re-build if they are going to stay up let alone thrive. The riches that come with promotion make that "possible" but very difficult. As for Liam being inexperienced, well yes its his first full time job as the head man. However, he's the first manager we've had in a while who's had us in the top end of Championship table for most of the season and still in with a shout come March. Yes he's had the backing of a fantastic owner but I don't think Shota could have got us here in a month of Sundays. Both McCann and Adkins were more experienced but even with Acuns backing I don't think they'd have attracted some of the players we have now. IMHO what LR lacks in experience he makes up for in pulling power, belief, confidence and nans. What ever happens its been a very good season for me. That said I'd absolutely love a play-off final as I missed the last two due to the birth of my daughter for the first and an overseas posting for the second. UTT
