The first Dowell goal was excellent in off the post

22 shots this week (8 on target (4 scored)) - it's a world of difference. long may it continue

The corner count dropped quite dramatically though, only 7 this week

In point of fact, we've been at or near the top of the "shots per match" table all season. Our problem has been converting the chances.

Converting those chances is one thing but getting them on target would have been needed to achieve such a "goal", and that has been a problem.

Don't know, not been good for a couple of seasons, play a lot of teams who defend deep and we cannot break them down, then we play teams like yourselves who just keep scoring also winning home games on a Saturday is basically not done these days, only 6 in 18 months

We've consistently been in the top four or five for shots on target; our ratio of goals/shots on target puts us 15th.

That is either not what I am watching or the rest of the Championship is utterly garbage

I think it’s partly down to the fact that the pure stats are too simplistic - you’re seeing us take pot shots and scuffed hopefuls from range, knowing from your understanding that they are very low probability, but the stats record them as shots on target equivalent to an almost guaranteed goal where the ’keeper manages a wonder save.

So stats are useful, but they need great caution

Numbers as an alternative to reality rather than as a guide to interpreting reality.

I was correcting a misrepresentation of reality by Thai, which he based on game stats -- total shots, shots on target and goals scored v Preston. The misrepresentaion was that those stats represented "a world of difference". The REALITY is, there wasn't a world of difference at all in those respects. Not even in the number of goals scored -- is there "a world of difference" between 4:0 v Preston and 3:0 against Rotherham? Whatever differences there were between yesterday's performance and previous ones under Dean Smith, those stats do not capture them.

Before yesterday the 2 Norwich managers Smith and Wagner only mustered up 1 win between them in the previous 16 games .

It's only our anti Smith bias that focuses on things like that
