So you think it's best not to play players in case they get injured? What would be the affect of them getting injured? They wont be able to play? I accept there is a case for resting players some times but not to give other players "a run out" or "practice".
Bruce always uses terms like 'a run-out', he's only actually going to rest players he thinks need a rest.
Don't think that's ever been suggested that we're using this as a practice match.. we'll rest players who are fatigued, and rotate the squad, as we do every match.
Oldman referred to giving fringe players match practice. You are the only person who has mentioned using the game as a "practice match".
I'm not sure what difference your seeing in the phrasing. You seem to be taking issue with him giving fringe players a run out.
Abel's obviously not that strong physically. He takes longer to recover. I highly doubt, i think Bruce even said if it was 4-5 days rest he would stick with the same team. It isnt so lets support the ****ing manager and his back room staff. Its summat else to beat Brucey with like.
Depends on the injury, but it's ill advised to do so. Look at Dawson (and I suspect Meyler). If you've got the cover, use it.
"phrasing"? There's a lot of difference between giving one or two players match practice and treating the match as a practice match.
I accept that you have to think about the individual players but I don't think resting Meyler and/or Hernandez at every opportunity is the way to go. Bring them off after 60 minutes when we are 3-0 up!
Because I can't understand why you'd have an issue with rotating the players. You're taking issue with his wording for some reason.
Well Meyler has looked frigged for the last 3 games so he'd be first on the list of rested players. Elmo could probably benefit and all. Thing is, we have an FA Cup game coming up which we really shouldn't be giving a **** about, we could rest players then.
So because I wasn't a fan of rotating players you thought it was ok to pretend I had said something I had obviously not said!?
You were taking issue with him giving players practice, what else could you have meant from that other than you thought we weren't taking the match seriously?
Changes have to be acceptable today, even a lot of them. There's a big game coming up friday and Preston will be a stroll in the park. Our squad is a strong one and whichever team we out out should steam roll through today. We have a right to win this game. 2 days is enough for players to catch their breath but some bruises and tired muscles will still be causing discomfort. No need to be taking risks. I think Bruce has really only dropped on bollock here which was leaving Abel on so long on Saturday. Should have brought him off straight after his goal and given him an hour today. We have looked toothless up front without him so far and judging by his words I reckon he'll be one of the players who miss out today. That said, I mentioned in another thread Clucas looked the best we've seen him so far in that brief spell up top, maybe his chance to make a stake as a striker and might help solve one of our problem areas ahead of the JTW.
