You beat me too it! I couldn't bare to see him playing for someone else. I'd feel cheated.

Ash vs Harper - Ash anyday, forget age, both similar skills technically but leadership is Ash incarnate..

However I get the feeling Corry Evans is being earmarked for the role and eventually you have to move on..

I wonder if Cambridge fans feel the same way (not that we're likely to play them any time soon)?

im a bit puzzled on this one, ashbee's an incredible leader but i think he will be as good in another side, this hull side has grown around him and he commands respect in the team, hes a good grafter, poor passer but he makes the team better, i doubt he could do that for preson. i say offer him an extra year at 9k a week here which reduces his wages right now, if he doesnt take it then flog him, we'll get a small fee aswell as reduce the wage bill

As blackandamber has said he's an incredible leader and we don't have a replacement for that yet. Who would be captain? Dawson didn't cut it, Harper looks like a naughty schoolboy and the rest of the team are just getting over their debuts ;-).

Not sure the Cambridge fans will feel quite as strongly as we do about him!

Shame to see him go but NP is bringing in fresh blood and if we can get Evans on a permanent at the end of the season, which I have heard is a possibility, then I think it's time for Ash to go.

Dont think he should let both go, but if he does, it will apparently give NP less problems off the field and NP`s influence will become greater on it.

I do like Ash but I think if he keeps playing this regularly he will get injured again and be out for a decent spell, I think letting him move on is probably for the best so that we can see other, younger players flourish and keep improving instead of relying on old hands so much.

It would certainly be a strange feeling seeing him play in another shirt

if he went a replacement would be needed..if defensive midfield duties are left to harper, then we will be in trouble, maybe if we where playing a celeb 11 including dale winton and graham norton then he might win a challenge or two....

I can't see Harper filling Ash's shoes, is there any chance that Evans could do be the man, they're big shoes to fill?

As much as I, and I suspect the majority of us, love Ash and all he's done for us, it's time to move on. I'd rather he went into coaching for us tbh, but if he wants to carry on playing, why not with PNE? Nige is clearly building a team for the future and long term, and as awesome as players like Ash, or Windass, or any of our previous greats have been, there comes a time when you have to put sentimentality aside.

Are we all becoming a little bit sentimental about Ash? next you will want us back at Boothferry Park.

His contract with City runs at the end of the season, so if Browny was to take him, is there really much chance of Ash getting a contract extending beyond June 2012? I think he's a necessity to our midfield - compare results when Ashbee hasn't played to results when he has been in the team, and you'll find we have a much higher win percentage when Ash has been at the heart of the midfield.

I hope this isn't true! I don't think moving ashbee on would benefit anyone, he's an inspirational leader who's performing well after coming back form another career threatening injury. Deserves a new deal imo!
